Info is flying around that windows has broken core problems and needs desperate repairs.

OK, any one here know what going on? It would explain why my up to date pc is have start issues which I can fix by restarting and then waiting 5 mins!!!!

please try running in an Admin CMD prompt
sfc /scannow

if sfc comes up with any errors please restart your computer and run this in an Admin PowerShell
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

see if that gives you any improvements

Nothing on sfc tried as well yesterday no complications. Not sure how to do second one.

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 Shell and every associated core feature and element are actually broken, and have been like this for many months.

After provisioning a PC with a Windows 11, version 24H2 monthly cumulative update released on or after July 2025 (KB5062553), various apps such as StartMenuExperiencehost, Search, SystemSettings, Taskbar or Explorer might experience difficulties.

This will occur for the following:
  • First time user logon after a cumulative update was applied.
  • All user logons to a non-persistent OS installation such as a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) or equivalent as application packages must be installed each logon in such scenarios.

If the Kernel (core) of Windows had major issues a significant number of Windows 11 users would have BSODs or other fatal errors on their computers. Forget that Neowin story, they're one of the worst tech news sites on the internet.

OK guys, I found Brinks link to the new windows and followed the instructions to System, Restore, Download windows with update. (Option One) . It took quite a while but it would appear that everything is now fixed. A couple of glitches, probably my fault (impatience) but I just did a restart and it loaded fast. Thank you all for your help and suggestions, this is the version it now tells me on my desktop - I hope its the 'new' windows:

The latest 25H2 general release is Build(26200.7171) - 11/11/2025. I would sugest you run Windows Update to bring your system up-to-date.,
