WINDOWS 11 error at start up (just looping no loading windows 11)

On my ACER ASPIRE A 315 Windiws 11 had error (computer restarted unexpectedly cannot proceed, restart)restarting it just loops, Acer logo and below logo "preparing"? what I did :- I could only get to BIOS no safe mode or repair mode, I enabled F12 and disabled secure boot but could not locate a USB to boot from. I just bought this Laptop , believe it was an upgrade from windows 10. Can you recommend a fix? Thanks in advance :)

At the time of sale the laptop manufacturer is responsible for hardware, Windows operating system, drivers, and applications.
There should be no unexpected shutdowns and restarts with or without BSOD.

"I just bought this Laptop , believe it was an upgrade from windows 10." Sounds like a used laptop. Acer might not be helpful with that.

"I enabled F12 and disabled secure boot but could not locate a USB to boot from." Maybe this is a "let them eat cake" suggestion, if "Deborah2014" means that no bootable USB drive is in hand, the obvious solution is to make one. Create Windows 11 Bootable USB Installation Media Tutorial

It may be possible to fix the startup using such a USB drive. Or to just blow away the current Windows and do a clean install. I hope that the issue isn't due to a hardware problem.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

You bought this as a used laptop? Its AMD A4-9120e CPU in your screenshot is not a supported processor for Windows 11.
That should not stop it running Windows 11, but the seller must have used one of the known workarounds to install it.

If you can, I would return it to the seller for a refund and get something else that is supported for Windows 11.

If you can't, then I would clean install windows 11 using one of the known workarounds. This is the one I use.

Thanks everyone I will try a bootable USB . Can I use Rufus USB . Which F key to use for booting to the usb port . Also what about a cd/dvd and what program can I use on boot device to repair this .As it is looping it says prepairing. Is there a way to erase everything and install windows 11?

Rufus can prepare an install USB that will bypass the system checks and install Win11 on unsupported hardware.

During a clean install select Custom Install. When it asks where to install, you can delete all existing partitions to leave just unallocated space. Then select that as where to install.

Rufus is not needed but can be used.


Find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB).

Find a working Windows computer.

The hotkey for the boot menu on an Acer laptop may be F12. Unless it's Esc or F9.

Rufus is used to prepare a USB drive. You don't need it if you aren't making a drive that bypasses some of the Windows 11 security requirements.

You haven't mentioned the exact Acer model, so it's impossible to guess whether such a bypass would be necessary.

If the laptop meets the hardware requirements for 11, your simplest way to get a boot medium is to use the Media Creation Tool.


(Second option on the page.) I believe that it could still be used to create a bootable DVD, but I much prefer to use a USB thumb drive. (8GB or larger.)

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

All of them. You want the whole disk to be unallocated space.

The drivers are all listed for Windows 10, but usually Win10 drivers will work well under 11.
