I’ve been using these Windows 10 registry updates successfully until updating to Windows 11 v 21H2 Release Preview (Build 22000.282) x64 -

1 How to Enable or Disable Real-time Protection for Microsoft Defender Antivirus in Windows 10

In a previous enquiry, you told me that 10 regedits would most likely work in 11; however these do appear to do so.



Is there any other way to disable Windows Defender in Windows 11?

Is there a similar Group Policy edit to disable Windows Defender Real-Time Protection?

(These actions are already covered in my 3rd-party AV software - Malwarebytes.)

I have found, and enacted, changes to the appropriate settings to Group Policy to diable Windows Defender Antivirus, Real Time Protection and downloading Security Intelligence Updates.

Where might that be ?

From what I've noticed mbam temper protection is also tied to defenders tamper protection

I've always thought mbam tamper protection only applied to it's self but nope mbam actually hides defenders tamper protection and until it's disabled any changes are locked.

By the way your questions title make no sense to the actual question

rem Disable Windows Defender. For this to work you have to manually disable "Tamper protection"

Denis,

The thread started out with questions about forum hacks to turn off Windows Defender.

However, through the responses posted, it graduated to changing Windows Defender options using Group Policy.

I've closed this thread and I'm pursuing my queries regarding Group Policy in a new thread under the 'Antivirus, Firewalls and System Security' forum.
