Add the User Guide to your book marks. :-)


The part you want to read is the: "Create Bootable WinPE Media" section.



Then once it's created... restart the computer, and gently spam the F11 key, to get to the Boot Menu.
There, choose your USB stick and hit the Enter key.

That should boot to the Hasleo bootable media you just created.
If you get to the Hasleo bootable software, then the USB stick works.
You can check it out, or just close it.
The comp will restart and boot to Windows.



The "Boot Menu" should look something like this...

On ASRock motherboards, it should be the F11 key.

If you can't boot from the USB stick, go into the BIOS and temporarily disable "Secure Boot", then try to boot from the USB stick again.

Thanks for the idiot guide (believe me, I do need it!), however I have a strange problem where once I click "proceed" and it starts to format the USB, it gets to 100% and nothing happens; it only let's me click "Close". I've tried it with two seperate USB sticks and the same problem occurs. I did leave it for a few hours as I nipped off to bed as just come off nights but I've come back to PC now and it's still at 100% with the "proceed" button greyed out. Experienced anything like this before with this app?

Install it.
Plug in the USB stick and then open Minitool PW.
Find the USB stick, and delete everything on it.
Then right click it and choose "Format". For "File System" choose: FAT32.

It's been a while, but I think you can just leave the USB stick "Unallocated", and Hasleo will be able to use that also.

When that's finished, Hasleo should be able to make use of it to create the bootable media.

That is strange as I use 32GB USB drives and Hasleo has automatically converted them to Fat32 and created the media.

OH yeah OK, there's no need to download and install anything, a waste of time.

Hasleo says you have to format it, you click "Proceed"

The formatting of the drive and the creation of the media is the same process.

If you look at the USB drive you'll probably find it is empty.
For some reason, Hasleo hides the content.
Enabling Hidden files in File Explorer will show you the rescue media.
On booting to the USB, Hasleo will know what to do (y)

You can boot to it and see as a test, Hasleo will eventually load.

I have a Corsair 16GB.
The first time I went to make the MR bootable media... MR couldn't do it.

Turns out a Bitdefender update, turned on... "Scan USB sticks".
Before I discovered that... I could use the USB stick for anything, except the MR bootable media.

Long story short... once I formatted it FAT32 or left it unallocated (don't remember which)...
then Macrium could create the bootable media.

Once I turned Bitdefender's "scan USB sticks" OFF... I never had that problem again.

That's just what happened on MY comp... "your mileage may differ". :-)



The point here is that I wasn't imagining things. MR, at first, wouldn't accept the USB stick.
Stick was empty and had no manufacturer stuff on it.

Another thing. If you’re not trying to rescue from a broken Windows, you can start the restore from within Windows:

Open Hasleo
Select your image
Click restore
Hasleo will mess around a little then reboot
You wont need the USB, Hasleo will load itself.

I (or someone) will show a step by step. There is an option at the beginning to tell it to reboot after the restore is finished, but I have a hot date with Burt Lancaster & Madonna, yes it’s one of those dates.
I can do tomorrow.

I know this seems to be a very unpopular way of backing up here, but for me personally, it's been easier and one that has never failed, and it's so simple. You might look into these duplicators, if you're looking for a simple way to back up. The best part is, you will always have a backup drive, something you can pop in if you ever have a drive failure. Some may not like the duplicators, and that's ok, but I tried for 2 years to find or look for a reason not to get the duplicators and I could never find a reason. The only problem I'm having is, now all my friends now come over and use my duplicators. Also, I have no problem with backup software, use it to, can't ever have to many backups. You can purchase both duplicators for around $200.00 US, I personally think that's pretty reasonable for a peace of mind, if the information on your drive is worth more than $200.00, why not?

It does work, I agree. But some people may not like to mess around with swapping out SSD’s etc.
So if there is a simpler way for a novice or the lazy like myself, it would be a backup program.

But… having said that; as a secondary backup system it would be a good one to have.

I agree, but I keep the hoods/doors off all my PC's, so it's a 30 second swap for me.
