Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are making this year’s annual feature update, Windows 11, version 26H2 (Build 26300.9278), available in the Release Preview Channel for customers to preview ahead of general availability later this calendar year.

Windows 11, version 26H2 will be delivered as an enablement package (eKB). This means that Windows 11, versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2 use a shared servicing branch. It also means that they share the same new features and enhancements delivered through our continuous innovation efforts. As a result, many of the features and improvements available in Windows 11, version 26H2 might already be familiar, as they have been gradually introduced through monthly updates.

For commercial customers, Windows 11, version 26H2 enables several experiences that were introduced in earlier releases but not previously enabled by default for commercial devices. This includes Windows settings backup, app-specific actions from the taskbar, and some File Explorer enhancements. For guidance on how to prepare for Windows 11, version 26H2 in your organization, see Get ready for Windows 11, version 26H2.

Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can install Windows 11, version 26H2 via our “seeker” experience in Windows Update. This means if you are an Insider currently in the Release Preview Channel on a PC that meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, you can go to Settings and Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 11, version 26H2. Once you update your PC to Windows 11, version 26H2, you will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update (the typical monthly update process). If you are a commercial customer enrolled in the Windows Insider Program for Business, you can deploy and begin validating Windows 11, version 26H2 on PCs in your organization using Windows Update client policies and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Azure Marketplace will be available later today. Should any issues arise, IT admins in organizations deploying Release Preview updates can request Microsoft Support.

And finally, ISOs will be available for download for Windows 11, version 26H2 via the Windows Insider ISO download page in the near term.

Again the coding for it still isn't the in the RP and public builds, only Beta and higher.

So 26H2 is officially out (to us or anyone who wants it). Let's hope MS keeps it's promise of giving back to users. The exodus to Linux is growing. I played with Linux many years ago and had fun with it. I don't know if I have the patience to teach myself again. Maybe... 🤔

Maybe that $400 I spent on Vista retail only for them to declare it over installed and deactivating the key.

I'm getting it sporadically now after a reboot. Some boots I get it, some I don't. I only have the two registry keys responsible for it on this build.

Someone had posted on an earlier build it was a beta version of Defender causing it 🤷🏽‍♂️. I know I don't get it on my other machines that don't have the two reg keys I posted which cause the issue.

Not quite sure what you mean.

But it's too bad MS didn't have an explicit de-activation, to make transferring a license easier.

(Vista may have been cursed, anyway. My Vista disk was the only CD I've ever had delaminate.)

Give back control of the system as we use to see it in XP (I'm making a general comment not specific to XP). The most obvious is: Don't tie up apps that you want to delete or disable to system settings that force you to use the unwanted app. AI is a great example. If your going to use volunteers as (insiders) at least listen to their suggestions. If they work for free it's because they really like Windows and want to make it better. Fix known issues instead of leaving them in the system like dead satellites in space. I'm being very general but ask those who move to Linux. Some of them don't make the move because Linux is necessarily easier or better. They are just sick of the broken parts over and over.

Some users have no issues because they use a fully loaded Windows with only a few needed apps and that's fine, but Windows is the all around desktop tool for users across the world. Some users like their car stock, but a lot of enthusiasts enjoy tinkering with it. I really like @Edwin's setup for example.

I Know I won't touch everyone with my comment, but I know I will touch a lot of users. :-)

Am I the only one whose File Explorer (after this update) goes blank every couple of clicks? Meaning, if I open File Explorer once it will be blank, then I close it and then re-open it and all of a sudden it works and shows all folders... :think: Does anyone know if there is a solution for this?
