My windows 11 is super slow, specially when going to start up. Is this a problem of windows 11 or it depends on the version?
I also want to know if their back up and antivirus is great

1. What's your PC spec?
2. Defender is OK, as is any AV when you use caution on what you click or download
3. Use a good 3rd party back up

As yet you have given no information on what version you're using

Since you specifically mention slow startup, you might try clearing your temp folder. This made a profound difference for me. To do so, open File Explorer. In the address bar type %temp% and hit ENTER:

Image1.jpg

Delete EVERYTHING in this folder. Note that toward the end you may get a dialog indicating that some files could not be deleted like this:

Image2.jpg

Check the box that says "Do this for all current items" and then click on "Skip".

Let me know if this helps.

I just upgraded to Windows 11 Pro on my system and it's working great, as far as I can tell. I did go through quite a bit to get the system upgraded. The old processor was not compatible, so a new processor was required. To get the new processor to work, I had to update bios firmware. Still I was not able to upgrade my old Windows 10 Pro, so I had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 before upgrading to Windows 11 Pro. Then after I got my digital license confirmed, I reloaded with Windows 11 Pro. I had to get one driver from my motherboard manufacturer to have all the drivers complete. Now I'm slowly installing required software.

@mywebsite I've used several different applications for backing up or imaging system. Macrium, Image for Windows from Terabyte, and Acronis. I think they all work great.

@kgarrett67 Hi Sir, Thank you for sharing yours, I've done some research and this one has good reviews on their site Hyper-V Backup Software | NAKIVO and I might try their free trial an see how it works
Depending on what you are looking to do exactly, that application is quite expensive, in my opinion. It seems geared more toward businesses and high end computer protection.

@mywebsite - I agree with above - to backup hyper-v vms and vhdxs, all you need to do is copy them or use its export facility.

If you keep your hyper-v vms in a separate partition, you can backup up using Macrium Reflect Free or similar.

I seriously doubt Naviko is suited for your needs.

Hyper-V (a vm runs almost as fast as my older laptop)
If you are worried about backing up the activated state of a Hyper-V VM do this:

1) Backup all the data of the VM as you would a physical system via Macrium Reflect, etc.
2) With the guest OS in the VM powered off, disconnect the virtual HDDs (this will not delete them!).
3) Using the Hyper-V manager, perform an export of the VM.

This makes for a very small compact backup of the VM, typically just a few MB in size. All the data is in the Reflect backup, but the machine info which will allow for automatic reactivation is stored in the very small VM export. After exporting, you can reattach the virtual disks.

To completely restore a VM:

1) Import a previously exported VM.
2) Create / attach disks to the VM.
3) Restore data using Macrium Reflect, etc.

Of course, with VMware Workstation Pro it's even easier.

I actually do not bother using Reflect for backing up the virtual machines folder containing the hyper-v vm data. On my pc, it is on E drive - I never store on C drive - too easy to screw things up.

I do exactly as you say, disconnecting the vhds, and just copy the virtual machine folder to Onedrive using File Explorer - it is so small that is rather pointless compressing it.

Then after backed up I reattach vhds (or key ones at least) as you say.
