Windows 11 keeps changing my brightness setting

That's the intel graphics driver for that cpu for the integrated graphics - I assume you have a driver for those as well as one for the Nvidia graphics. It's the intel graphics driver software that also installs the intel graphics command centre. But I think you already have that. The Intel ones are easy to instal - you just click on the program and let it run and it removes the old driver and installs the new one. I find it better not to click "clean install" and just do a normal instal. Whenever I do a clean install, Windows replaces the driver again! If I don't do clean install, then the driver stays installed.

Also, I know you've checked for a Windows adaptive brightness setting, but also look in the Intel Graphics Command panel and the Nvidia software to see if there's an adaptive brightness setting to turn off in either of those.

From post #49 you do not have the Intel Graphics Command Center installed.

That you can get from MS Store, or from ASUS where it is listed in your reference for drivers.
You will find it in the All Apps list under I > Intel GCC.
That will contain some sort of start up profile.

Question: is it possible a faulty laptop charger could cause the brightness to change?
That will not be a cause. However you may have set on battery to a lower brightness, that is up to you to change.

It'll be plugged in and then randomly it'll revert to using the battery and then back to being plugged in. I have to sometimes jiggle it to correct it.
If you have to jiggle the charger port that would indicate some damage, like charring/oxidation due to plugging/unplugging on power and it is probably a 240w charger.

I didn’t realise there was a driver for the CPU.
There is not, that is the Intel integrated graphics driver which you installed from ASUS.

The Intel driver will install the graphics command centre if it’s not there.

Yep, I have the Intel Command Centre installed. I don't see any Adaptive Brightness option though. Same with the Nvidia Control Panel. There's hardly any options to adjust, to be honest.

First time I've ever heard of PowerToys. 😅 I take it there are specific utilities that would be installed if I had any on? I suspect I probably don't though.

Aren't those identical? Oh wait, I see one is 'seta' instead of 'set'.

EDIT: Nope. Sadly it hasn't helped. 😞 I set it to 50% and restarted a few times. It went back up to 70% again.

I created a scheduled task for myself and scheduled it at log on of any user.
It runs a vbs script, vbs script run a hidden bat file. The bat file includes that command.

Code:
powershell.exe (Get-WmiObject -Namespace root/WMI -Class WmiMonitorBrightnessMethods).WmiSetBrightness(1,85)

So my brightness set to 85 after login, regardless of the brightness level.

It's also possible to have a scheduled task that does this.
You can set different triggers for scheduled task. For example certain time.
I have also 2 scheduled task set to work every hour.

So check your Task Sheduler if that happens. The probability is low, but I recommend checking it out.

I'm not sure if there's already something in the Task Scheduler or what it would come under. I've tried adding the command into PowerShell though, so we'll see what happens. Thanks.
