Solved Windows 11 not activated anymore!!!?!?!

Last week I posted about not being able to put stuff in my c drive and how I messed with permissions and what not so idk if this is what caused it but windows 11 home isn’t active anymore

I don’t know what happened. I didn’t change anything or do anything. Just randomly wanted to change some setting when I noticed it said that I couldn’t because windows wasnt actived. I clicked on the prompt and it says

“we can’t activate windows on this device as our activation servers aren’t available right now. Make sure you’re connected to the internet and we’ll automatically try to activate windows when the service becomes available. Error code: 0x80072ee7”

When I run the trouble shooter it says “We can’t active windows on this device right now. You can try activating again later or go to the store to buy genuine windows (0xc0000022)

I have had windows 11 pre installed since I bought my laptop so Idk what’s happening. Can windows expire? Did I get hacked? I don’t now what is going on but I’m not trying to buy an 100$ windows key for it to happen again

I would contact Microsoft.
If the laptop really did come with Win 11 pre-installed and you haven't made any major hardware changes... it's probably just some network setting that's causing the problem.

When your problem gets escalated to higher level tech support, they do a screen share and just fix the problem for you.

Check whether the license is genuine:
Right click Start>Terminal with admin & enter slmgr.vbs /dlv
Are you using any third party antivirus software? If so please disable this & check again to activate.

I bought the laptop from Best Buy. The message that pops up says Error 0xc0000022 on a computer running Microsoft Windows non core edition and then it tells me to run a command to see the error text (not posting in case it’s computer sensitive)

I was able to find the actual key but idk what to do with it. also it says im on windows 11 and i have an OEM windows 10 key

Hello, I remember your other thread and believed then that you had probably not seen the last of issues caused by messing around with system permissions. That always tends to weave a web of problems. Here's my opinion for what it's worth.

Yes, you can attempt to call MS to see if they can get activation straightened out, but there's a high chance that underlying boogers will still remain to jump up and bite you in other ways in the future. You won't like my suggestion but I would want to know that all the boogers have been kicked to the curb.The only way to do so is a system reset and remove everything OR a clean install.

Beforehand, as a precaution, using external media create folders (Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Pictures, Music, Videos) on this media. Copy (NOT MOVE) all your personal files into these folders.( Even if you currently sync to Onedrive using a MS account, the permissions on your files could still be messed up depending on what you did and doing it this way removes permissions on the copied files so they are safe. Once you have copies of all your personal files, disconnect the external drive from the system

A reset and remove everything SHOULD work but if it were me, since I do not know what permissions you messed with or how you did it, I would take the extra steps and do a clean install. I would download the iso and install making sure to remove all partitions, then install windows on unallocated space. During a clean install, the installation process will verify the product key stored in UEFI and install the appropriate version of windows associated with it.

At this point, depending on how or if you want to use Onedrive, you have 2 choices. Set up using a MS account will DEFAULT to syncing to Onedrive which stores personal files in Onedrive only, not on your local drive. Anything currently in Onedrive will still be there.
If you want your files to be stored on your local drive, install using a local account and copy the files from the external drive into your personal folders on your local drive. You can then choose to backup these folders to Onedrive at any time if you wish. You can also convert the local account to a MS account if you choose to do so.

I haven’t had any other issues besides this. The upside is that even when windows isn’t actived you can still use windows full apart from customization. What’s even weirder is that my wallpaper that isn’t stock has not reverted to the original windows wallpaper nor is there a watermark in the corner

If pc becomes unactivated, existing customisations are not reversed. You cannot legitimately do new ones though without reactivating pc.

But wouldn’t the windows watermark still show up? And also when I tried to fin my windows key with the command it gave me my laptop name, said error and a description with nothing there. Just said description =

I was able to find my key via an app but don’t know how to check if it’s real or what I should do with it. Because I know the key was working before this

That message (non core) usually indicates the pc is running Pro, Enterprise or Education - ie not Home.
The cmd doesn’t show any personal information so is safe.

Ok, but when I use the showkeyplus app it says I’m on windows 11 but my own edition is a windows 10 rtm core

the only way I’ve been able to see my key was from the show keyplus app

What does the command I mentioned show?
Showkey plus will show the key imbedded in the BIOS not what is activated.

That’s good. Then I’m unsure as to why it says you have non core edition.
Have you tried entering the default Home key?

If you mean clicking on change key and putting the one that was working yea I tried that and it didn’t work
