Hello!

A user of 'swtpm' is trying to run Windows 11 on KVM/QEMU with attached vTPM. He gets that error message "Can't get TPM information. Contact your device manufacturer". Using the same configuration on KVM/QEMU and vTPM with Windows 10 doesn't lead to this error message. What information is Win 11 trying to get now that Win 10 didn't care about? Is there are log file to look at?

Hi folks
@Stefan Berger

What distro-- with Arch Linux simply : yay swtpm, with fedora: yum install swtpm. Ensure if necessary the library is installed as well. No need to start any services on the HOST for TPM.

In the VM no need to do anything with swtpm or initialize the virtual TPM - the VM software does it all.

On Arch Linux kernel 5.14.9 KDE GUI (wayland)

To test TPM on W11 :

@jimbo45 Do you see the same error message as that swtpm user got with Win 11 or you don't see that error message?

You set the cpu type to "host" on the QEMU configuration?

Just choose specify CPU topography -- choose one from the dropdown that works -- you need though at least 2 vCPU's for W11. The models that work depend on your actual hardware. If your system works with "Host" leave it for the moment until people are clearer on once Ms starts applying the W11 restrictions on hardware.
