By way of illustration these are the decimal values I entered for my 1920 x 1200 monitor (obviously you will need to alter these example values to suit the actual resolution of your own monitor):

ActiveSize.cx =1920
ActiveSize.cy = 1200
DwmClipBox.bottom = 1200
DwmClipBox.right = 1920
PrimSurfSize.cx = 1920
PrimSurfSize.cy = 1200
Stride = 7680

With respect to the 'Stride' value: There was no Stride in any of the keys I had. However, and from previous experience with this over the years, I decided to add a correctly calculated Stride value myself. My reasoning was that perhaps a Stride value isn't necessary in 24H2 but it would do no harm to enter one any way: if it isn't used then it will never be read by the system, but if it is used at least I have a correct value in there to use.

I hope this clarifies this somewhat for you. And I would add that for the past few days I haven't had a recurrence of the problem I had in the 'Open-Shell thread' I point to above.

FWIW, the regedit workaround seems to be working for me so far.

I found a workaround:
1) Open Registry Editor (as admin) to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration\
2) Delete all entries in this path (there should be at least two) Delete by clicking on item and press "Delete" and confirm if needed. Exit Registry Editor (File - Exit) and restart PC.
3) After system start/login reopen Registry Editor (don't let your PC go to screen saver/sleep first) to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration\
There should now one be one registry entry. Click on tree arrow, then click on tree second arrow to view values. By clicking on each 00 the values will be displayed on the right side of Registry Editor. Note that there are some value pairs that match the resolution of your display.
4) Allow display to go into power save mode where is gets no signal, then wake system.
5) Open Registry Editor to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration\ again.
You will see a second entry now. This is a dummy monitor entry created by Windows for...reasons. You'll see the same value pairs as before, but with incorrect resolutions for your display.
6) Change the values in dummy monitor registry to match real monitor resolution. I found 4 sets. Double click on the value that needs to be changed, make sure that change the "Base" of the value to "Decimal", then enter the appropriate number.
7) After all changes have been made exit the Registry Editor and restart.

It works for me. Note: I only have one monitor (two video ports, but disabling the unused one didn't keep problem from occurring). Multi-monitor setups may be different?

I didn't have to change any "Stride" values though. Is that a multi-monitor thing?

No need for those solutions anymore. It seems to be fixed, cause I updated a couple of new graphics drivers, and it didn't change the resolution in registry like it would regularly up to one month ago, all fine now.

It was several years ago when I got hit with this on a single monitor system, so Stride isn't a multi-monitor thing.

Nevertheless, at that time, years ago, Stride was specifically mentioned in the 'fix' I found and, as I did have Stride entries in the registry I altered them accordingly to how they would help to eradicate the problem. On my current single-monitor system when I altered the 'x' and 'y' values to suit what my monitor actually is I just created a Stride value on my on and give it a data value that I know to be correct from my monitor (as if Stride was required). Certainly my adding the Stride value has had no adverse effect on the issue I was facing nowadays from being fixed. Maybe, for whatever reason, 'Stride' as been done away with by Microsoft.

P.S. I have no idea at all what 'Stride' actually does. Stab in the dark by me following earlier instructions/guidance found on the issue. In any case to correctly calculate Stride see this post: Severe Open-Shell Problem on Win11 24H2 When System Resumes from Sleep. Any fix?

My workaround is simple and resolves window shrinking... before your monitor goes to sleep, or you turn it off, change to another Desktop. Example, I run everything on Desktop 1 and before I turn off my monitor I change to Desktop 2. When I turn the monitor back on and change to Desktop 1, all my application windows are the same size and no shrinking.

I followed your steps today and this resolved the windows resizing problem. Thanks much for sharing. This looks like a simple fix for Microsoft and wonder why it is taking so long.

This solution was already posted by many members, but every time when you update the gpu drivers, you will have to repeat the steps with changing the resolution.
