Windows 11 upgrade created a second Recovery partition

I upgraded my Windows installation (build 26100.1150) to build 26100.1297 thru iso downloaded from UUPDump, the upgrade process created a Recovery partition next to my already present Recovery partition. This happened yesterday after I did the upgrade. My previous Recovery partition was 1.81 GB in size and it served well. Now I was donated a second Recovery partition (size 659 MB) as my Disk management screenshot shows.

Did anyone else have the same issue ? I remember having the same problem several years ago where every Windows upgrade installation created its own Recovery partition. I had become a Recovery-partition rich guy at that time.

As you can see from the screenshot, I have dual-boot Windows installation. Only one installation (disk 0) was upgraded to build 26100.1297 and it had the bonus Recovery partition.

You can keep the recovery partition that is currently in use, and then delete the extra recovery partition. In this way, disk space can be reclaimed without affecting the operation of the operating system. To find this Windows recovery partition you currently use, you can type "reagentc /info" (without the quotes) at an elevated command prompt.

Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately, even if I regain 1.81 GB of space by deleting and then formatting the unused recovery partition, it will not help much since it is very small. I might want to combine that 1.81 GB space either to Windows partition or to the next partition using Windows command line tools. But I believe this is not easily achievable. So I intend to leave it as is, for now. I can only combine that space to the newly-created recovery partition. But it is not worth the effort since the new Recovery partition of size 659 MB should be enough for the job.

You can always use free version of MiniTool partition tool to expand disk spaces.

You can use MiniTool PW to peruse the contents of the recovery partitions. Keep the recovery partition with the newest file dates, delete the other one then extend your C: drive to use the free space created.

As you commented there is little to gain in size.

Another method using command line is to delete both recovery partitions then extend C: then shrink C: to create a new recovery partition of the preferred size.
