Hi and welcome to the forum..

First question I have for you is what brand and model processor do you have? Win 11 is only supporting certain processors.. and here are the lists.

Hello and welcome to the community! Windows 11 is still in it's early stages though there is a big chance that older computers may get it soon. Also, you can stay on 10 until so : )

Have I missed something???? If so, could you please post a link where Microsoft have indicated that. I have NOT seen anywhere OFFICIALLY published stating that they are looking at including older systems and IMO stated such things only leads to false hope for those that have older systems that do not meet Windows 11 requirements.

Do you mean that you have access to inside information and are required by your employer not to reveal it, or you can't provide an official link because none exist?

(I guess it's the latter.)

Just saying that I heard there are some chance that they are working on getting more hardware supported but theyrae sure that my pro 5 can upgrade soon. Not sure about the other procssorses, they're e working hard to get every user on board. I am not working for microsfot, just lucky chance someone told me. I cant' tell you who or what, I dont' want them to be fired

Stop.. I doubt they'll allow older hardware to have access to 11. They, MS, set the line in the sand and the hardware isn't going to change.

Intel 8th gen and newer are the only ones that can use 11, with the exception of a few 7th gen processors and AMD 1st gen Ryzen are out.

Well, there you have it off an official Microsoft support page no less. For myself I'll wait and see what experiences others have in the future with updates and so forth before thinking about trying it with my 6700K Skylake.

It's here with an appropriate Microsoft warning: Ways to install Windows 11 but there is no indication anywhere that Microsoft has any intention of extending the current hardware compatibility list.

I've been thinking, (I know it hurts), I have been using Rufus to generate Windows to go installs to use as a Live windows Testbed for the Dev & Beta versions of Windows 11. This process produces the install direct from an ISO file.

The Rufus Tool includes an option to install a standard windows install in addition to the WtG I use.

As this works by writing the OS directly to the Drive it should remove the checks performed by the installer and thus produce a working install on unsupported hardware - not tried as I do not have suitable hardware at present, but the WtG has worked flawlessly for me on external M2 NVMe drives, so it could be a possible workaround - the created Windows 11 drive should be automatically set as the boot drive and then you could modify the boot sector to give a dual boot with the original OS. you could also connect an internal SSD externally and build the Win11 Install there ( I did this once accidentally when I chose the wrong Option in Rufus), then install the SSD internally to act as the boot drive.

It may be worth a Try if other methods fail

It's here with an appropriate Microsoft warning: Ways to install Windows 11 but there is no indication anywhere that Microsoft has any intention of extending the current hardware compatibility list.

It does still require TPM 1.2 at minimum according to the note.

It's here with an appropriate Microsoft warning: Ways to install Windows 11 but there is no indication anywhere that Microsoft has any intention of extending the current hardware compatibility list.

People pointing to that article as an endorsement by Microsoft saying you can run on unsupported equipment need to pay attention to this warning:

Warning:

  • Microsoft recommends against installing Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the Windows 11 minimum system requirements. If you choose to install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet these requirements, and you acknowledge and understand the risks, you can create the following registry key values and bypass the check for TPM 2.0 (at least TPM 1.2 is required) and the CPU family and model.

Good luck.

BTW (just FYI)... for those like me using BitLocker, you'll need to suspend/turn it off before installing the OS. Went to do a clean install of 11, was told by the install process I couldn't install on the selected drive because BitLocker was enabled and had to be suspended/turned off.

I should have known this, but forgot I had BitLocker on. Just FYI.
