Hi,

I've been struggling to upgrade my Win10 21H1 build to Windows 11 for some time now and WindowsUpdate keeps failing with the following error.

To run through what I've tried, I disabled or rather uninstalled BitDefender and run the following commands:
  • Dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
  • Dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
  • Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • sfc /scannow
  • Dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
  • ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
  • ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

What should I try next?

You should uninstall BitDefender to see problem resolves, if not try upgrading using Windows 11 Installation Assistant.

Sorry I wasn't clear BitDefender was uninstalled.
Please send the Upgrade error code to Microsoft via the Feedback Hub:

I've submitted but based on previous experience I'll be lucky to get a response before Windows 12 comes out.

@BKOmega

It seems that the BCD Store or/and the EFI Partition has a Problem.

You could try first if it helps to rebuild the BCD store and if it does not help to rebuild the EFI partition along with the BCD store.
