Solved Windows 11 Will Not Install Using Microsoft Window 11 Pro Disc

Just Wondering if anyone had this problem. I purchased Windows 11 Pro real microsoft disc about 1-2yrs ago. So i tried to install it the other day and would not work. I downloaded and ran PC health check app and is was my TPM not enabled. So I went BIOS and enabled the TPM. Went back ran the pc check app and i passed. It said i am good to install windows 11. I tried to install windows 11 again and no deal. My question is why would the pc cheaker tell me im good and windows disc im not. I would appreciate and help if possible. Thanks

Welcome.

I assume the disk came with a license key? It’s all you need.
Having said that, if you use a Microsoft Account, your licence is most likely already digitally recorded at Microsoft.

You don’t need the disk.
Get a USB (Min 8GB)
Download the latest ISO from Microsoft using the Media Creation Tool (Option One)
Let MCT create the install media
Reboot to the USB and install Windows.

It does not check all of the requirements.

All of the requirements are checked during the upgrade.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how I could figure out what is holding me back. Do you think it might work on a clean hard drive ( I have a couple new hds ). Or is mb to old (asus prime z370-a). Thanks for you info and your time. Appreciate it.

You can install Windows, clean, using Rufus (If your PC is out of date) As long as the CPU requirements are met, the motherboard TPM2.0 requirements are not a problem:

You don’t need to format the USB, RUFUS will do it.

The latest ISO is available via the Media Creation Tool. (Option One in the tutorial below)
- At the time of this post, the latest version available from Microsoft is: > Windows 11 Version 24H2 build 26100.4349 ISO
- Before Media Creation Tool starts downloading Windows 11, when asked, tell Media Creation Tool to create the ISO and not burn to media (USB)

- Option Two (this time, or Option One if you tell it to create the ISO only):

Download RUFUS
- #1 Direct RUFUS to your USB
- #2 Click “Select” and direct RUFUS to the ISO that you downloaded from Microsoft.
- #3 should sort itself out if the OS drive is partitioned properly. But to be sure, make certain it’s GPT. Your Windows OS really should be partitioned to GPT. Make sure #3 says GPT
- If you’re running an older system and have no choice but to use MBR (According to your HDD partition structure) then choose MBR at #3 in the image below. Find what partition table is used, in this Tutorial
Click “Start”

After clicking “Start”, the following options will show — Make your selections.
- Select Remove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 (to bypass requirements) IF you need to.
- Select Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account
- Pre tell the installation to Create a local account with username and give it a name (if you want to)
- Set regional options to the same values as this user (On the PC you’re creating the media on)
- Disable data collection
- Disable Bitlocker automatic drive encryption
- Use “Windows CA 2023”
Click OK and the USB install media will be created on the USB
Once Rufus has created the USB installer, you can proceed with the Windows installation.

For the posted PRIME Z370-A motherboard Asus has tested Windows 11 and provided Windows 11 tested drivers.

Failure to upgrade is often in the log files (error message and code).

Then the likely cause(s) can be sought.

For your board, the following needs to be performed:

First setting is under in Advanced.

Look for the setting Advanced\PCH-FW Configuration
Change the setting for Intel Platform Trust Technology to "Enabled".

Next setting is under Boot.

Look for the setting Boot\CSM (Compatibility Support Module).
Change the setting for Launch CSM to "Disabled"

Don't use a 2 year old iso. No telling what version it is. Download latest official Microsoft iso and use Rufus to create a usb install drive. To get the iso its 3rd option down the list here. OR if your machines passes all requirements you can use the installation assistant also listed there.

Rufus can create install media as is from the iso OR If you are missing any of the necessary requirements, Rufus will give you options for bypassing any of Microsoft requirements as well as creating a local account (rather than using a Microsoft account) if you wish. You can also create a local account during the installation process.

Did you get the error shown in the image?

The error message "This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements" appears immediately after entering a product key or selecting an operating system version, when Windows Setup performs system requirement checks.

For example, if the USB stick is booted in Legacy BIOS mode, Setup cannot proceed because Windows 11 requires UEFI and GPT. Windows Setup will automatically create the correct partition style (GPT in UEFI mode, MBR in BIOS mode), but since Windows 11 installation requires UEFI/GPT, booting in BIOS mode will always cause this error.

How to fix it

Boot from the Windows 11 USB stick in UEFI mode (in the boot menu, select the USB stick with a UEFI prefix).

edit: As @antspants mentioned, you can also disable CSM (Launch CSM → Disabled), which will make the Windows 11 USB stick appear in the boot menu only with the UEFI prefix.

Meh. The release date for your system board was May 2018. Your Asus system board was Windows 11 Ready when you first got it.

Aubergine could very well have identified the issue here. You will risk additional problems however if you manage to install your OS from that disk. There have been many updates since and a few of them do not take easily when you update from older versions of Windows 11. You really are better off using a newer version if you can. If you can't then try installing 24H2 first. To make matters easier make sure all other hard drives are disconnected and be sure to install on a GPT freshly formatted hard drive. I had similar issues when installing to my 7th Gen X299 platform. Yours is 8th. Gen.

Rufus is a very handy utility but using it is a matter of personal preference. The choice is yours. I opted for the "unadulterated" version of Windows on my Work Stations but I use Rufus for all my domestic builds.

That makes perfect sense. I know that I couldn't install Win 11 on my ASUS SAGE until I flashed the BIOS first. Again, it looks like you may have identified the issue.

None of those things will work anyway unless the UEFI/BIOS is up to date.
