I claim smooth transition from W10 to W11 via WU (22000.160) a couple of weeks ago.
I claim succesfull CU to .194 and .258.
I claim OS (W11) is working fine. (On unsupported CPU (i7-7700HQ), the rest is OK).
I claim all applications and games are working fine.
I claim there are some minor glitches. No big deal.
I claim W11 startsup faster.
I claim that I am not scared about a crash (of my work PC) because I backed up al the stuff that matters. Image file on external HD + Synologie Backup to NAS + Copy of folders to NAS and external HD.

The safest decision is to wait until the upgrade to 11 is offered in Windows Update. Why? Because Microsoft will put temporary blocks in place to prevent it being offered to systems with known issues, such as incompatible drivers or 3rd-party software. Once MS and/or the 3rd party have resolved these issues the block will be lifted.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

I agree, especially with your daily driver. Maybe if you have an older system that you can use to test it out, you can try 11 on it to see if you like it. For now, I would either wait until it's available through Windows Update or if you're looking for a new system, get one with windows 11 pre-loaded.

Many of us are using 11 as a daily driver and have been for some time. Bottom line is there are always going to be bugs to deal with and waiting isn't going to change that.

You may have answered the issue(s) I am having with (mostly) new Hardware. My ASUS Z590 is "windows 11 ready" via a BIOS update that turned on TPM, but there is nary a mention of new drivers:( I also have Windows 10 on the machine, but I haven't had an upgrade offer yet, just a "we're getting it ready for you" message on Windows Update.

I haven't had an upgrade offer yet, just a "we're getting it ready for you" message on Windows Update.
Even with no blocking issues, the rollout will be 'phased and measured'. Not every '11 ready' PC will see it offered on day one, some may not see it until the middle of next year.

Micrsoft said:
We will use a measured and phased process in offering Windows 11 as we have done with Windows 10 feature updates. Our objective is to provide you with a smooth upgrade experience. We will begin to offer the upgrade to eligible new devices first. Then, as with previous rollouts, we will study device health data and other signals to determine the pace at which Windows 11 is offered via Windows Update

.....We expect all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.
How to get Windows 11

I believe it's a safe decision to WAIT before upgrading. WHY?

With anything new, there's ALWAYS going to be bugs and glitches to work out.

When I see things being worked out and people claiming smooth transition and OS is working fine, then MAYBE I'll upgrade.
Sounds like a plan ... so good for you :)

I suppose the moral of the story is that manufacturers don't always know all their bugs until too late ... and you ar not going to be the one who is landed with the job of troubleshooting issues.

On the other hand there are many out there, and on this forum, whose job is to deliver the latest tech when it arrives. Their reputation could be at stake, but usually they offer free support and updates to cover their risk.

People will buy it because they want to be future proof, and that is the weakness of waiting around for tested tech to be purchased only when it is half way through its lifecycle - is that it's EOL (End Of Life) date is nearer.

Even with no blocking issues, the rollout will be 'phased and measured'. Not every '11 ready' PC will see it offered on day one, some may not see it until the middle of next year.

How to get Windows 11

True statement - I have a Surface Laptop 4 that fully qualifies for W11 but, it is not being offered as yet. And, I will wait until it is "offered" through Windows Update rather than forcing the upgrade early.

Many of us are using 11 as a daily driver and have been for some time. Bottom line is there are always going to be bugs to deal with and waiting isn't going to change that.

What he said ^^

My ASUS Z590 is "windows 11 ready" via a BIOS update that turned on TPM, but there is nary a mention of new drivers:(

I did a clean install of Windows 10. For my Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Xtreme motherboard I used the Windows 10 drivers from Gigabyte. All good.

I'm confident enough in it that I have now upgraded ALL my systems to Win 11, including my 11 year old HP laptop. Every system seems to be running just fine although I do have one really weird network related issue on that 11 year old laptop :-).

But for some us, troubleshooting issues like that are half the fun :)

I've installed it on a 5th generation unsupported HP laptop and a definitely unsupported 10" netbook. And it runs great - found production speed increased for copying and pasting. New laptops are being sold with it installed already - so it can't be full of gremlins! The only issue I've had is a missing icon on the taskbar - on the netbook - which shouldn't be able to run it anyway really. Haven't had any gremlins at all. I hope they tweak the start menu a bit though. I kind of miss seeing both the programs list and the pinned apps at the same time.
