Hi folks
Anybody know how to disable the shutdown event tracker -- seems the reg keys mentioned in google / on the Ms site itself don't exist.

Cheers

The output messages really depend on how the system is being shutdown. If the system is shutdown by an app or scheduled task, then that app or task may use specific switches to control and record the process.

Some of the switches are contained within various .dll files, so not easy to track down or to modify them.

When I need to shutdown/restart I use a shortcut attached to the taskbar. The target field of that shortcut contains:
%windir%\System32\Shutdown.exe -r -t 00

This restarts my machine without leaving any tell tale signs anywhere, that I am aware of at least, although Event Viewer will record programs/services starting up etc.

Open a CMD window and type in shutdown.exe /? to see the full list of available commands and then create your own shutdown shortcut to suit your needs.
