Windows can be made to "sleep" but won't "wake up" on keyboard/mouse interactions

What I need is results of command I listed in post #19

OK, Has anything changed in the last day? any new application installed, any windows update, any driver update, any hardware added?
Have you tried wake with all external peripherals disconnected. (except mouse and keyboard)
If you would I would like to see your power configuration.
Open a command prompt as admin and type powercfg -a
Post a screenshot

Thanks, but nothing. I took the machine to my PC guy (placed my SMPS order etc) and got the SMPS swapped out in his shop. Also got myself a new mouse from redgear A15 to cosmicbyte firestorm because left clicks were misfiring in my redgear.

After coming home and connecting all cables discovered late evening the sleep to wake stopped working.

Have you tried wake with all external peripherals disconnected. (except mouse and keyboard)
but why? all was good until the trip to shop and back. Only 2 peripherals anyway: printer cable usb and a xbox-duplicate controller BT usb (both those are OFF for over a month now)

Here's the command output you asked.
1731843317664.png

anything else from powercfg you need?

thanks,
surio

I also have two more desktops, a windows 10 and 11 gaming desktop and a dell gaming laptop that runs windows 11
I took the machine to my PC guy (placed my SMPS order etc) and got the SMPS swapped out in his shop.

For what it’s worth, have you spoken to this person and asked by chance if they ran any diagnostics or anything after installing the new SMPS, to check everything was above board and working for you?

    ...Where's my horse?
but why? all was good until the trip to shop and back.
Disabling fast startup is one of the things we almost always suggest a user try when he has sleep/wake/restart issues.
Also got myself a new mouse from redgear A15 to cosmicbyte firestorm because left clicks were misfiring in my redgear.
So you do now have a different peripheral along with a new power supply so your setup is not the same as it was the day before when everything was working. If wake worked with your old mouse, test with it. Unplug your new mouse.
You want a firm set of instrutions to fix your problem, but there is not one. Issues like this have to use process of elimination in hope you stumble onto the culprit that broke you. You have to rule everything out.
There's even a chance the new PSU is causing the issue. I just gave you other things to try

Thanks both,
but this is downright bizarre, don't you think? Nothing has changed in my setup except a new SMPS/power component... how does that affect a previously well working sleep -> wake up configuration. I am not getting this at all...

    ...Where's my horse?
For what it’s worth, have you spoken to this person and asked by chance if they ran any diagnostics or anything after installing the new SMPS, to check everything was above board and working for you?
I was at the shop when they set it up. At first they opened the new one before me and just connected the new SMPS as is to the different components w/o "installing it" into casing, and it booted and started fine.

When they then installed it nicely into the case after removing the old one, all these double beeps etc., started.

Then they through trial and error detached the 2nd hdd connection to smps - then put it back, then when it persisted detach the connection to graphics card and connected monitor HDMI to motherboad then restarted... I think at this point eventually the beeps stopped and the thing kicked on. They rewired it all back to how it ought to be I brought it home to test if the machine "abruptly restarts" like I have been experiencing (explained in that thread linked).

Fin.

Do you know if this guy changed anything?
no actually. I have explained the way it went at the shop on another reply to you. Like I said on another reply, I just got me a new mouse from him when I was there. A16 redgear (old mouse) to cosmicbyte firestorm (new mouse). The left clicking in the redgear was getting long in the tooth and so I got me a replacement as I was already at his place.

A quick report. Connecting the old mouse didn't solve anything. Same old BS situation. I am also noticing that the PC really is not going to "sleep" anymore. At least one fan behind PC is running still and the LEDs in front of cabinet is still ON!

This has really been a dog s*** scenario

Fine! I will try anything at this point?! Starting with that "disabling fast start" thing.

There's even a chance the new PSU is causing the issue.
Brand new? :(

I just gave you other things to try
Look I am not being ungrateful. I appreciate it. But it just looks very silly and daunting to me going through that Dell list link against a PC that had a fresh OS install just under a month ago.

Disabling fast startup is one of the things we almost always suggest a user try when he has sleep/wake/restart issues.
1731860765408.png

I used the REG file to disable fast startup. Going to restart now.

Then your only other option would be to use (or try to use) hibernate instead. I have doubts about it as well. Or do like I did for a year and set sleep to never and monitor to turn off after 5 min. and when you knew you were going to be away a while just shut it down. It nearly drove me nuts as I'm one to leave my system on 24/7 except in bad weather.

A thought...Do you have the latest UEFI bios update from Gigabyte and chipset drivers applied to your system?

Thanks for reminder. There was indeed updates for all the items in the gigabyte control centre tool.
I updated it all and restarted, but status quo "botched sleep wakeup situation" is persisting.

Mood right now...
