This is very urgent.. Multiple websites are getting slammed with people having the same detection this morning the past hour.. still being talked about on Reddit.. just getting the word out there and if anyone could provide some instructions on how to protect ourself from this.. Thanks.

I'm about to do that.. alongside a clean Windows 11 install. I'm not about to play around with this.

Already wiped all my drives and have a fresh install in progress as we speak.

Malwarebytes found the issue and I let it fix it .. but a clean install is my go to at this point.

This sadly didn't work. Ran defender again after updates and still being detected. Have shut down my PC and disconnected the power and Ethernet for the time being.

you wiped your pc? its clearly a bug. its been reported all over the world at the exact same time. only 2 options

1) a bug that Microsoft will acknowledge and correct (lets not forget how they pushed an update that BSOD'd 1000s of PCs just months ago)
2) its the end times and a PC is irrelevant now :lmao:

I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm going to wait a couple of hours and watch the tech news feed to see if it gets fixed fairly quickly .

It appears to be a false positive, clean installing Windows and running a scan with Defender will still detect it if it's a Defender bug

Got the detection as soon as I booted my system this morning before reading this thread, it's being widely proclaimed as a Microsoft issue , I have done three scans so far with three detection's quarantining each one , it just keeps coming back. PC is not acting up or doing anything out of the norm.
Probably a false positive and Redmond is probably already racing towards a fix.

No detection.
Ran it again with the .425 update, now it's detected. No changes were made between scans


99.99% a false positive/Defender issue

at least i know when work calls in a panic i can just laugh about it. i read about people that spent hours restoring a dozen machines before they looked it up online. they weren't very happy this morning lol
