I just got my first Windows 11 computer (previously I ran Windows 7). I'm now running (according to Control Panel > System):
  • Version 23H2
  • OS build 22631.3447
I consider myself a decent Windows user, but not a power user. So please bear with me -- thank you!

The version of Notepad on my computer is 11.2401.26.0, copyright 2023, according to Notepad > Settings > About this app. Could you please help me with three questions?
  1. What is the latest version of Notepad? (How can I tell what the latest version is?)
  2. How do I get the latest version of Notepad, if I don't already have it?
  3. The version of Notepad that I'm currently running, 11.2401.26.0, copyright 2023, has tabs. How can I revert to a version of Notepad without tabs?

1: The version of Notepad varies with your current build; in Canary it is 11.2402.22.0
You can find the version by opening notepad, settings (gear icon) About (to the right upper part).
2: Updates will come from the MS store, this is where you should go.
Open the MS Store, click on Library (bottom left) & Check for Updates.

I have the same version of Notepad in my Win11 computers fully updated to the latest build.
