However, I am missing the Windows Photo Viewer Shortcut on the Start Menu, can someone share their shortcut file? Thanks!

Do you still have Windows Photo Viewer installed in Windows 11? I used the reg hack in Windows 10 and now that I did a update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 I can't find the Photo Viewer. I tried running the reg hack and it failed.

I forgot that I was in my user account. I switched to my admin account and ran the reg hack and it added the entry. I still can't find the Photo Viewer.
Edit: The Windows Photo Viewer now shows in the open with option.

MS did a great job of hiding the .exe. I looked in Program Files and Program Files (x86) and all I can find is ImagingDevices.exe. I can't even find it by using Search. I hope Almighty1 has better luck.

It runs from dllhost.exe. So can't even create a shortcut.

Try to make a new shortcut with this target:

rundll32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen

It will open a blank Windows Photo Viewer. If you want to target any folder contain pictures, put the name of the first picture file in that folder with the extension, like this:

rundll32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen C:\Downloads\Pictures\001.jpg

I guess right clicking on a picture is the only way to run it.

That's a good find although I won't be trying it as I prefer the Photos app.
I like both but that's a good way to get the old version back.

Unless I did it wrong that opens Windows Photo Viewer but there is no option to open a file.
@Almighty1, I went into Default apps and set Windows Photo Viewer as the default.

Windows Photo Viewer can not be used to open any file from itself. Even when it opens a picture, the OPEN command will refers to other softwares:

Try to make a new shortcut with this target:

rundll32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen

It will open a blank Windows Photo Viewer. If you want to target any folder contain pictures, put the name of the first picture file in that folder with the extension, like this:

rundll32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen C:\Downloads\Pictures\001.jpg

Here is the result of the shortcut if there's no picture file target in it. Blank:

Can you not just add a shortcut to the executable to %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs ?

A Guy
The problem is what's the exact executable to use as it runs on a dll file and also right clicking New only allows a folder to be created, not a shortcut.

Do you still have Windows Photo Viewer installed in Windows 11? I used the reg hack in Windows 10 and now that I did a update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 I can't find the Photo Viewer. I tried running the reg hack and it failed.
I never had Windows Photo Viewer installed in Windows 10 prior to upgrading to Windows 11 and I used the reg hack in Windows 10 in Windows 11 and I am able to open with or default open with Windows Photo Viewer without problems. I am just trying to figure out how to open Windows Photo Viewer from the start menu.

The first one worked partially as Windows Photo Viewer will open but the middle of the screen will say "Loading..." and the top menu, everything works except the Open as that one doesn't respond when I click on it.

Yups. Because Windows Photo Viewer can't be used as an application to open and/or edit any file. Just viewing/printing.
