Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7922)
Shortly after KB5074109 was installed on my machine, I began encountering a frustrating situation.
I have long used Chrome Remote Desktop to access my Windows desktop machine from my Chromebook.
Suddenly, my desktop machine started registering offline. I'd go to the desktop machine and restart the service, and it would stay online for a while and then be offline again.
Through a process of elimination, I determined that there now appeared to be a conflict between Chrome Remote Desktop and my VPN. If I stop my VPN, the desktop machine remains online, and Chrome Remote Desktop can access it.
Using Gemini, I discovered that Windows update KB5074109 has a known connection to this problem. Moreover, Gemini reported that updates KB5077744 and KB5078127 were designed to fix the problem. While my update history indicates that KB5074109 was applied to my system in mid January (around the time my problem started), those fix updates have never been applied, and querying my update status does not produce them. I've tried downloading them and attempting to install them manually, but I get error code 0xc1900401 no matter what I do (including all the corrective actions suggested by Gemini). KB5074109 does not appear in the list of updates eligible for uninstall.
Has anyone experienced this situation and been able to correct it?
