Windows Update pulled this Intel System Update, and it's now downloaded

Yesterday, weirdly enough for me, Windows Update has been pulling and forcing me to install "new" Intel drivers ("new" is subjective, I guess, as I have been reading around these). It's kinda rare it suggests me to do these, compared to... the other drivers that have (coming from HP, as my laptop is from them, or Realtek) been installed. I'm not going to question it, computer doing its own thing.

I got this one, "Intel System Driver Update (2603.9.4.0)". Should I simply let it be installed? I don't know what it does or what it actually updates (and attempting to look through the devices manager in Control Panel, doesn't help because I have plenty of instances that Intel manages, and every single one "latest" driver version tells me somewhere between 1968? and 2024), I only know from looking at the Windows Update catalog that this was released back in January 2026?

That's your Intel ME (Management Engine) driver/software. If this is for the system listed in your computer specs then what Windows is installing is outdated.

The latest version is 2632.10.6.0 (source).

Your first source for driver updates should be the manufacturer of you PC. After this, if you're running an Intel platform, I recommend Intel's Driver and Support Assistant . If neither of these provide the update you mention I would ignore the Catalog listed update as it may not be required for your specific platform.

Should I simply let it install, and perhaps, install the next one or something like that? I mean, the update I mention has been downloaded, it hasn't installed yet.

I don't normally touch drivers unless I'm having issues with a device, or there is a security issue.

I personally would hide it.
