Windows Update Settings Page Broken

Issue:

The Windows Update settings page appears broken. The 'Check for Updates' button doesn't work and sometimes even disappears.

Expected Behaviour:

The Windows Update settings page should look like this.

I've already tried to reset Windows Update using this tool: Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

please try.

in a powershell as Admin please run one after the other.

first
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

then (this may take sometime)
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

finally
sfc /scannow

restart the system. then try Windows Update again.

This step isn't working and gets stuck at 62.3%. What should I do?

I've tried repeating it, but now it doesn't work at all.

step two may take some time upto 30 odd minutes just leave it running until it has finished repairing the component store.

I had this problem. I've done all sorts of things, including the recommendations given here. Nothing helped me except: look at the screenshots.
