Windows 11 for Workstations
It turned out that I didn't have winre on my system (no I don't know why). So I pulled a copy from folder "1" of the install.wim on Win11_25H2_EnglishInternational_x64_v2.iso and recreated the recovery partition.

I'm running Windows 11 Pro amd64

Winver says Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8875), and DISM says:

Code:
C:\Windows\System32>Dism /Get-ImageInfo /ImageFile:\\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim /index:1

Is that all as it should be?

Your computer is probably using an older version of WinRE because you copied Winre.wim from the Windows 11 installation media. The version on the installation media is not necessarily the latest one, since Windows Update can update Winre.wim independently of the installation image.

My computer is running WinRE version 26100.8875, which Windows Update has updated to the latest installed version.

It's possible to download WinRE 26200.8875 from UUP dump.

1. Select your intended build: (ie. 26200.8875)
Select language for Windows 11, version 25H2 (26200.8875) amd64

2. Select your language: (ie. English - United Kingdom)

3. Under "Search Files", enter "winre.wim".

4. Click on the download link, and save the file as "winre.wim". You may have to instruct your browser to allow this download.

Code:
PS C:\Users\GARLIN\Downloads> Dism /Get-ImageInfo /ImageFile:winre.wim /index:1

I download the current version, but how do I replace the copy on my recovery partition? I copied the downloaded file toC:\Windows\System32\Recovery and did:
Batch:
reagentc /disable
reagentc /enable
but reagentc /info still shows the old version of WinRe even though it deleted winre.wim from C:\Windows\System32\Recovery.

UPDATE:

I figured out that I could do the job from the command line - after removing the System and Hidden flags from winre.wim on the recovery partition.

Thanks, David

I went to see what recovery version I had (reagentc /info) and it said it was disabled.
What a surprise as it was enabled some time ago.
I tried to enable and it gave an error.
So I checked C:\Windows\System32\Recovery and WinRE.wim was there.
So I checked the WinRE.wim version
Dism /Get-ImageInfo /ImageFile:"C:\Windows\System32\Recovery\winre.wim" /index:1
and it returned 8873

What I did
So I followed garlin tips and Downloaded the WinRE.wim ver 8875 and placed on C:\Windows\System32\Recovery replacing the old WinRE.wim ver 8873.
Next I formatted the Recovery partition and created a new Recovery\WindowsRE folder
Diskpart
list disk
sel disk 2
list part
sel part 4
format quick FS=NTFS label=Recovery
assign letter=R
exit
MD R:\Recovery\WindowsRE
Reagentc /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE
reagentc /enable
reagentc /info

Now I have WinRE.wim ver 8875 and enabled

If you delete the partition the ID and gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001 are needed to identify a recovery partition.
As I didn't deleted the partition but formatted, it wasn't needed.

Godbless as usual!

I had to run a calvalry to get this file back... at the end I just copied it from my laptop with same build and edition of windows and re-nabled all with reagentc... I even tried to follow microsoft's steps for updating the winre.wim file to set it back again... and the thing just refused to be compied over again because there was no enough space in the recovery partition (goodness...)
To clean up all the mess I had for mounting the wim was the second part... permission nightmare...

Thank you or this!
