I would learn how to create a restore point
Windows deletes restore points that it decides are no longer relevant or no longer viable.
An update is very likely to prompt such deletions.

System restore points are slightly more effective than chocolate fireguards.
I agree with the others, place your faith in proper backups such as system images for your OS disk and file backups for any separate data disks.
