Would This Ram Be Compatible with my Motherboard?

Hello All

thinking of upgrading Ram to 64GB due to seem to be using all my 32GB of Memory for some reason

Running right now is only 1 MS Edge Window, Teams, Discord, Firestorm 64Bit SecondLife viewer, and New Outlook for email checking

This is what System information shows

The memory thinking of getting would be this, current Ram is RGB Teamgroup DDR 5 5600mhz believe 1.25v or 1.35, not entirely sure on that part

I think you should first find out what is using all the memory!

And be sure to check the number of pins/contacts, compare what you have with what you want to make sure they will physically fit.
The DDR number probably needs to be the same.

Also, pull the power cord from the wall socket/surge protector and press the power switch then wait a couple minutes for residual power to drain off. Same for a Notebook but also remove the battery if possible. And ground yourself to prevent static electricity damage.

Been trying to figure out what is using all the memory for days

Sure system is on 24/7 doing various tasks, typically though over night isn't much running--usually i use the over night time for System Maintence tasks, sometimes backup, if not a maintenance night then i stream over bluetooth my relaxation audio to Galaxy buds so i can sleep.

Then wake up in morning, and begin Gaming or other tasks

Could it be the NEW Outlook app using too much Ram? i could remove that and just stick to Classic MS Office 365 Outlook if need be

Firestorm viewer 64bit is SecondLife 3rd Party viewer

Onedrive is used, but doesn't seem like that is using too much

Edge only 4 tabs open right now, i closed some

I can disable the Ryzen 7 7700X on board video in UEFI bios if its a good idea

If there is no monitor connected to it and you have an add-in card in use then Yes, disable it.

Yes No Monitor connected to Motherboard video output, and do have Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB Discrete video card, so will get that disabled right away in just a few minutes here

Good grief five gigabytes for Microsoft Edge? That's certainly a memory hog! I thought the 1GB for Firefox was really bad, I don't think so after seeing that! And certainly no reason to have the on-board video taking memory if you don't use it.

Yeah, when running some diagnostics it takes more to get everything Edge is doing closed out first. With Firefox open and 6 pages/tabs I have 20 processes in Task Manager but with only 1 page open in Edge I have 11.

What really impress me are the 5,3** MB of RAM used by your Edge, at the moment I have 6 tabs open and it only uses 1,7** MB. For what you are using your PC 32 MB should be more then enough, I have 32 MB of RAM and I have enough using LR and Photoshop together while streaming music from YouTube and Outlook running and rarely goes over 60 or 70%; I would rather look for a faster/better RAM. Did you make any change in Edge Settings like "Performace Momitoring" or how is it called in English, where you can select the amount of RAM to be used by Edge?

l think the amounts shown should be GB for GigaByte. My first computer in '92 had 4MB/MegaByte RAM.

Ok Onboard video disabled in UEFI bios

Hopefully that solves things a bit, guess i'll see how it does now lol

I should have enough with 32GB of Ram, but if it still is a problem, then guess will purchase more ram and faster speed at some point and solve problem once and for all

Reboot your PC and after it gets up and running again and before running any programs take another System Information screenshot and post it.

I don't think i made any Edge changes in settings, but i'll check

Reset Edge to Default as well just a moment ago just in case i did do a wrong setting, don't think i did, but i figured wouldn't hurt anything doing that

Am running AMD Adrenlin Optional newest update 25.4.1--(No idea if that makes any difference in things)

System was clean installed on 12/25/2024 when i installed my Samsung 990 Evo Plus Boot NVMe this one is in M.2 Slot 1, and Game NVMe Samsung 990 Pro 1TB into 2nd M.2 Slot

Edge Memory usage much less now

though not watching any Youtube or anything in Edge right now

I'm unsure that you're still looking for a response to Post 1, but the G.Skill F5-6000J3636F32GX2-TZ5NR is on the compatibility list for your motherboard. For 1 or 2 DIMMs. (Not 4.)

Yeah would just be 2 Dimms into same slots current 5600mhz sticks are in, and i'd save the current sticks for possible use in future Machine or in case the newer Sticks went bad.

I was still looking to response to that yes, as might still upgade the ram possibly next month.

As system felt sluggish eariler and that is why i started checking on how much ram was in use, and i was like how heck using so much lol. Restarted then, then reopened usual programs, started watching a Youtube video, and checked it again, and i was like ok time to look for more ram, and post if any other info to sort the memory issue out.

For your first post, g.skill does not list the memory you linked in their compatibility list (see image).

But here is a link to the qvl list of g.skill memory greater than 32GB that is compatible with your motherboard.

Okay in that image it only shows 6.19 GB of physical memory available. If that was after a reboot something is definitely eating up your memory. You may need to dig a little deeper to figure this out. Bring up Task Manager and open the Performance Tab then select Memory. Post a screenshot of that. Next while there look up at the 3 dots in the top right corner, click on them and select Resource Monitor. You can dig down under the Memory usage there and perhaps see what is grabbing all the physical memory.

2nd system information little bit post there of just the Memory portion was after disabling of the Onboard video, with nothing open yet on the little tiny Memory post there

How windows memory management works is if there is no pressure on the memory, it will keep program pages and even full programs in standby mode. Memory in standby mode can be easily released for a program that needs more memory. Basically, you can consider standby memory as free memory. That show 14GB of standby memory.

Don't know if you were already considering that.
