My WD_BLACK SN770 supports DirectStorage.
Maybe that will be important in the future.

I was reading about that a few days ago. I'm not too concerned, never had to go the warranty route with any of my wd stuff.

I've owned intel, samsung, skynx, sandisk, pny, crucial and wd SSDs. All have done their jobs well for me. My last handful (6 or so) have all been wd sn750s and 850s.

All of my drives are either straight SSD or NVME and all are made by Samsung. I have used WD drives with great success in the past, but those were spinners. The SSD data read/write specs at the time I bought my drives were better for the Samsung drives, so that is why I bought them. And I can service them all with Magician.

WD is making some pretty good offerings in SSDs these days. I would seriously give them a look and compare if I had to build a new system from scratch now.

Prices have dropped on SSDs, I picked up a couple of 1 TB Samsung 980 Pros for $79.99 each from Newegg last week for a new build. Other components have dropped as well as I also got a Radeon 560 for 109.99 at Microcenter (did not care to spend much on a graphics card for the build). Awhile back you couldn't touch most graphics cards for less than 200.00 and far more than that for a good/decent gaming card.

That price from a month ago beats the price I paid. I usually don't buy certain components from Amazon like drives or memory only coolers, fans, etc. But this time no one including Newegg had the memory I needed from the Asus QVL so I did buy the memory from Amazon.

It is good though to see prices usually fluctuating downward these days.

That link I posted was actually 2 months ago, not 1 month. Either way, heavy discounts are making prices go down, up again, then down again and so forth. When I got my 2TB Samsung 980 PRO it was 229 Euros (on both Amazon The Netherlands and Alternate.be, but the latter had faster shipping, so...). This was 2 years ago on Cyber Monday. The lowest regular price for it that I was able to find back then was almost 287 Euros, which is the price I found on Amazon Germany for it. As for my 16GB RAM, it's from Amazon Germany. It's this:

Several days ago, looking at Best Buy, (which I hardly ever do) seen the Samsung 990 Pro 2tb for $119.99. Don't exactly need this, but figured it was a bargain and will end up changing it out with my 1 TB on W11. Came via mail yesterday.
