Solved Wrong version of Outlook

I had problems with my computer and had to do a repair using windows update. I have Microsoft Office 2019 Pro Plus, since the repair things like word, excel, powerpoint and access etc work fine but my outlook opens outlook 365 and not my 2019 version, I cannot find it anywhere, any ideas how to get the 2019 version back?

I'm not sure there's any significant difference between the two versions, but one option would be to delete Outlook and do a repair install of Office 2019 and just install Outlook.

Both versions (2019 & 365) are classic Outlook.

365 gave me the "New" Outlook when I got my new pc. I'm guessing that's what he got after his repair.

Didn't know 365 is now pushing the new version.

The-Hive: Is there a toggle switch in the upper right corner of Outlook to switch back to classic?

Is it not listed in Settings, Apps for you to uninstall?

If you can remove it there, I suggest you also remove your MSO 2019 as well so you can then run its installation with a clean slate.

To uninstall the new version you'd want to go to Settings - Apps - Installed Apps and scroll down to Outlook (new). Click on the three buttons on the right and uninstall.

To stop any Office version from trying to "upgrade" you to the New Outlook.
Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook | Slipstick Systems

I probabally didn't explain well, I have the standalone version of Office Pro Plus and that had changed to Office 365 during the repair.

So I suggest that you uninstall both and then reinstall Office Pro Plus.
When I reinstalled, I started from a link in my MSAccount where the original purchase was noted.

@Try3 Thanks Denis, the problem is outlook 365 doesn't appear anywhere to uninstall, all app shortcuts point to 2019 but they still seem to open 365 from the original outlook 2019 location

@Try3 , nothing works, I did a Macrium restore to a point before the Repair with Windows update and all is normal again.
365 appears nowhere on my pc
the shortcut which opens 365 is in the same location but now opens 2019 as it should as the path is correct.
This has nothing to do with new outlook / classic outlook

Perhaps I don't really understand what that term means.
I looked through the instructions that I think apply
Fix problems using Windows Update, Reinstall Win11 - MSSupport
and cannot see what I suspect, namely that the 'repair' reapplied aspects of the factory default condition including a trial version of Office 365.

So I'm no wiser,

@Try3 Thanks Denis, I hope that when the "trial" runs out it will revert back to 2019, I seem to remember that happening before along time ago.

@Try3 Hi Denis, I sorted it with your help pointing me in the right direction.
I opened Outlook with the 2019 link and 365 opened, I went to Office account and switch licence , it was showing the correct 2019 licence so I clicked next and it all changed back to normal. Thanks so much for your help
