  1. Recovery partition 99% full

Thank you all for your very insightful replies. I'm very relieved to see that this isn't a problem, especially on a laptop that I've only had for a week.
  2. Recovery partition 99% full

I was getting ready to run a Macrium Reflect image backup on a new laptop after upgrading from Win11 Home to Pro when I discovered that one of the recovery partitions is nearly maxed out. I'm not having any issues at the moment but I'd imagine that this isn't ideal. Do I need to fix this and...
  3. Installation and Upgrade Upgrade Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro

I purchased a new key and it worked. Successfully upgraded to Pro now. Thank you all for your assistance. (y)
  4. Installation and Upgrade Upgrade Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro

I am definitely typing it correctly. Triple-checked multiple times. So, what would be the indicator that it's OEM, besides being in sealed Microsoft factory packaging?
  5. Installation and Upgrade Upgrade Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro

This is what I have. They key is on a label like the kind you see on the side of a PC tower. I believe I had to scratch off a layer to reveal the entire key,
  6. Installation and Upgrade Upgrade Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro

I'm experiencing a similar issue. I have a brand new Dell 16 DC16255 laptop that came with Win11 Home. I'm trying to upgrade to Pro. I have two legit keys from sealed Microsoft Win11 Pro CD-ROM installation packages. One was for my old laptop and the other for my desktop. When I try to use...
  7. Solved SanDisk SecureAccess system file possibly damaged

Got it resolved. IT at work looked at it and as it turns out, the necessary system file among others were encrypted by our network security software. The company discontinued using that software a couple months ago, which was soon after the last time that I accessed the drive. Without that...
  8. Solved SanDisk SecureAccess system file possibly damaged

I did send a request to WD on Friday. No reply yet. I agree that the likelihood that they will be able or willing to offer much help is not strong. I'm wondering if it's possible to repair this kind of file without losing properties like the password.
  9. Solved SanDisk SecureAccess system file possibly damaged

Hello @glasskuter. Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, this doesn't address my issue. In my case, the vault is intact and nothing has been deleted. The files are there but one or more of the system files critical to SecureAccess appears to be damaged.
  10. Solved SanDisk SecureAccess system file possibly damaged

Hello all, I have a SanDisk thumb drive that I use on my Win11 machine at work, which has tight security and very limited access to system settings. The SecureAccess software that came with the drive is not accepting my password. It's not telling me that the password is wrong, I just keep...
  11. Solved Intermittent fully transparent drop-down menus

I think we can call this one resolved. There was an Intel graphics driver that needed updated. Seems to be ok now. Thank you for the replies! (y)
  12. Laptop for military

So, we went with a Dell Inspiron 14 (5430). The complete opposite that I thought my son was looking for. Turns out that he wanted something as thin and compact as possible. The Dell we picked was the smallest we could find with the system specs that he needs. With space saving in mind, I...
  13. Solved Intermittent fully transparent drop-down menus

We've only had the laptop for about a week. Numerous updates installed since we set it up. Most recently, it got the 23H2 upgrade. I briefly installed ClassicStart which creates a Win7 style start menu and launcher. I noticed the issue while that was running and thought it was being caused by...
  14. Solved Intermittent fully transparent drop-down menus

Hi OAT. Yes, my PCs are Win10. The machine in question is a new laptop for my son which is Win11 Home, v23H2, OS build 22631.2506. I found a Reddit thread with some people talking about what sounds like the same issue. No mention of a fix or if the issue is being addressed.
  15. Solved Intermittent fully transparent drop-down menus

Hello all. I'm experiencing an odd glitch where drop-down menus within explorer will intermittently have fully transparent backgrounds. It's happening whether the transparency feature is enabled or not. This screenshot shows the issue when I clicked on the "View" menu.
