Me too. It's been turned into crap since Avast got it.

Actually I had to look. I'm on 6.18 portable. I won't use the Avast mess.

Using 6.40.11562 Portable
I have put these settings in my Hosts File
and also blocked CCleaner in firewall

No problem with Avast anymore

I just installed CCleaner v6.40 over v6.39 so far its good.. maybe..
and I still won't use v7 because it is so broken and some things won't clean at all...

CCleaner Portable 6.40: When I create a desktop shortcut and launch it from there, Smart App Control blocks the application. It's the same with the previous version.

I think Smart App Control won't be reliable for legitimate applications and will become annoying in the long run.

I found a workaround: Disable Smart App Control, create the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop, and then re-enable Smart App Control.

Why jump through hoops getting old versions to run? block this and block that , having to add entries to your Hosts file to block it from phoning home.
I admit the pre Avast versions of CCleaner were great , but it's had it's time and was completely destroyed by Avast, now I wouldn't touch it with a twenty foot stick.
Glary Utilities Pro cleans everything that CCleaner does and it doesn't nag the sh*t out of you after you install it.

I beg to differ, I have had Glary Utilities Pro installed for over five years now and haven't paid one cent for it , they constantly do one year license giveaways, at least once a year.
