This is Verizon FiOS gigabit. When I first got FiOS gigabit around 2017, I was getting close to gigabit speeds in both directions. As the years have gone by, it's slowed down a bit. Still way faster than I need, so I don't get excited. Also, there are two or three TV's elsewhere in the house streaming, so that doubtless is slowing things download a bit.

@Josey Wales . It is interesting to see this trend of upload speeds surpassing that of download speeds. Not sure what causes it. Looks like we both have healthy pings anyway.

I've had a lot of problems with T-Mobile Home Internet. I kinda need at least a 5Mbps upload for my Twitch streaming (can work with less, but I get a lot of drops and discoes) and for the past several months it's been hit and miss if I'll have enough bandwidth to stream - more miss than hit. I just got off the phone with them, and the customer rep said that there was a lot of work on the two towers I'm close to but all that work should be completed now (imagine that - it was just completed).

Been debating about changing over to one of the Fiber options in the area (AT&T is currently advertising), but I'm not the sole decision maker where I'm at.

Has anyone been using AT&T Fiber and what are your thoughts?

Of course fiber is always better specially if FTTH is available in your address. T-Mobile also has fiber I think (T-Fiber) but you have to check availability in your area.

Depending upon which T-Mobile device you have for home internet, they have external antennas that may get you a better signal and higher speeds, unless your limitation is a tower back haul. Then you're left at the mercies of whatever capacity it has.

Verizon FiOS is all direct to the end point, every hose gets an ONT that terminates the fiber. One great thing about FiOS was when our power was out for days at my old house, the FiOS connection still worked fine. There is no active elements between your ONT and the central office. So as long as my generator had gas, I had TV, Internet, etc.

Recently Spectrum was brought to our neighbord. Considered country here, but not even close to what I know as country. DSL or Wireless are the only options at my exact location.
Spectrum is advertised here as 100% fiber. However the drops from the fiber lines to residence are coax. Go figure. We had Brighthouse when we lived in Tampa, which was later bought and renamed Spectrum.

Comcast uses the same hybrid setup with coax to the home but fiber on the overall network.
