Sorry to hear about your tooth problem. Here in the UK, infections seem to be dropping across the board - maybe because of the unseasonably warm weather. Certainly RSV levels are high in children, but low in most of the population. We have a national surveillance of respiratory illness which gives far more information than most of us care to know: National flu and COVID-19 surveillance reports: 2022 to 2023 season
I think dentists are quite careful about infection control, so you should be safe enough.

My tooth has been fully restored (even had a tooth color restoration done) but it is of course not as strong as with a crown, so I have to avoid chewing on something hard close to that tooth :eek1: I think I can do that until spring :-)

Where I am, wearing masks is recommended again, and I won't be surprised if it is made mandatory again further into the cold season.

I'm sure your dentist does everything they can do to protect their patients. We live in a sue happy society. Giving warnings, no matter how obvious is needed to limit the number of frivolous lawsuits.

Back on subject. My wife did get her Covid booster shot. I've only had the two J&J shots. We were going to get our flu shots when we had our three-month checkup with our primary doctor. He didn't have the flu vaccine, so we are going to have to go to our pharmacy. I keep putting it off. I have sleep apnea and on my last visit to my pulmonary Dr. he gave me my first Pneumonia shot.

Covid is here to stay. I for one, refuse to isolate myself from the world. I do use precautions but that is as far as I'll go.

I don't isolate myself either. But I generally choose the more prudent option, and that's completely apart from anything else.

I was wondering about the twists and turns that this discussion took. I did go to the dentist for the root canal (post #84) I did not go to the dentist for the crown (post #85) Different dentist cases, different decisions.

FWIW, my scalp is beginning to itch because of my overly long hair and I will have to have a haircut within the next 2 weeks or so.

The general way of life that has developed naturally is that day-to-day decisions are made in much more deliberate ways than pre-pandemic, which can be a good thing > less chaos(y)

Dentists are just scamming their clients. In UK, the dentists all refused to do NHS work, but with the big influx of Eastern Europeans over last few years suddenly NHS dentists were much more available.

The Covid, Brexit, power cost impacts, collapse of £, suddenly they are all declining NHS work again just for their own selfish benefits and it is the elderly and poorer people being impacted.

If I was the government, I would pass a law that each private dentist has to take on 30% NHS work or their license to operate would be revoked.

It is time we in the UK stood up to these smug self-serving bxstrds.

The problem here (and perhaps elsewhere too) is that services (and goods) are often hard to get. I see ads that are paid for with good money but following up, the goods and services aren't there!

I finally got a barber appointment at 1 pm, after a good lunch :-) and before I could go to the washroom :( I will never make a barber (or dentist) appointment at 1 pm again :eek1:
