I've never had an update muck up my PC, not a 'B Release' PT one anyway. And if it ever did, well all my machines have their backups. The 'C/D Release' preview updates are another matter. But as the only update with new security fixes is the B Release I don't as a rule bother installing those.

Ah But you have an advantage, of knowing a lot more than most of us. btw I hope you are ok, had a lot happening here and not getting on here much and when I do none of the gang are about

Not so - there was a cumulative update on 13th December. What has been deferred till January is beta and release preview updates.

Where did this come from? The normal patch Tuesday updates were issued in December on the 13th. It is other updates such as preview updates that were not issued. Next patch Tuesday updates will be on January 10 at 1000 US Pacific Time (1800 UTC).

My Windows Update evidence contradicts your statement. If you got no updates in December, perhaps you should look into that.
