Just for fun, I’ve invented an imaginary all–inclusive keyboard. (See the attached PNG image.) Starting with the old–fashioned typewriter keyboards, and progressing through the mainframe terminal keyboards, up to the present–day computers, I’ve listed every kind of key that’s ever (to my knowledge) been used, and combined them all into one giant keyboard. I also added some other characters that might be used, plus 12 function keys, and some keys for controlling the computer and the Windows (or other) operating system. And for the keypad area (here shown below the main keyboard) I’ve included both the numeric–pad and the cursor–pad side by side, plus another 12 function keys. The total number of keys is 160. (And I’m sure there are still some others that I don’t even know about!)
