Keyboard sort of not working

Windows 11 Pro - version 24H2
Since reinstalling Windows, when go to log in, the letters on my keyboard won’t work but the number pad will. I’ve tried two different keyboards and get the same problem. Once in a while it did happen before I reinstalled Windows, but rarely. I have updated the drivers.

Uninstall Keyboard driver and reboot your computer.

Try to change the regional keyboard layout, for example: English US, English US-International, English UK, English Australian etc and see the result. Will the letters behave the same way or not? At least you will know whether the keyboard layout is a source of problem.

When I click on the lower-right corner of the screen it shows both US and Australian keyboards. I’m used to seeing only 1 option.

Settings > Time & language > Language & region > (Your current language), open menu by "..." on the right > Language options, "Keyboards", "Add a keyboard" > look at the long list of keyboards, select one which is not current, e.g. United States-International, add it.
After this, you can make it default (or keep as secondary) and switch from current to newly added.

How can I remove a keyboard? I've got two choices when I go to the right side of the task bar: 1) ENG English (Australia) US and 2) ENG English (United States) US. The Australian option is highlighted. Is there a way to remove the United States option so it doesn't create problems for the computer?

Keyboard switcher on the taskbar is shown, usually automatically, if you have 2 or more keyboard layouts. If you have only one, it should disappear. To remove unused keyboard layout, go to the Settings as above, then in the list of installed keyboards choose the layout you want to remove, on its bar click "...", click "Remove" in the menu. You can remove any layout except the last.
But if you have more than one language (Language & region), keyboard layouts will be tied to languages. If you remove a language, that keyboard will be gone as well.
