A USB driver for DOS?

For years, I've booted up my PC, to run my DOS Backup/Restore program, with a Floppy Disk, CD, or now a Flash Drive, and in the Autoexec.bat file, I loaded "Mouse.com". That always worked OK, when I used a mouse that plugged into the PS2 port on the PC. Without "Mouse.com" being loaded before my Backup program, the mouse would not be seen by the program. Been doing that all the way back to 1997.

But when I try to use my USB Wireless Mouse, (Logitech M185) it is not seen by my Backup Program.
So in my own defense, I keep a wired PS2 mouse plugged into this PC all the time, and only use it when I'm doing a backup, or restore.

This is not difficult, actually quite simple, and having two mouses plugged in at the same time doesn't seen to cause any problems.
But, even though my current motherboard does have a PS2 mouse and keyboard combo port on the board, many newer PC's don't have that luxury.

So, if I want to do a backup on one of my Laptops, for instance, I can't use a USB mouse, and I have to use the keyboard.
I've done that enough times that I'm familiar with the process, but I find it slow and cumbersome.

Now, my question is: Is there a USB Mouse driver for DOS? And if so, where can I find it?

That's all I want, or need.
Thank you,

I've been doing an extensive web search for an answer, and I found the same two files in the link you just gave, installed them into my DOS boot flash drive, and booted up my PC. My USB mouses, both WiFi and cabled, did not work. Only the mouse on the PS2 port worked.

In the article at that link address, it talked about all the devices that those drivers would work with, but no mention of the Mouse, and that's really the only thing I'm having a problem with.

I already have Legacy USB support Enabled in my bios, so every USB drive, etc. works fine when I boot up in DOS, BUT, it does not work for a Freakin' Mouse!!! So, No, those two files did no good at all.
But, I do appreciate your effort.
Thank you!

do these things work ?
A while back, I ordered ten of those. They took forever to get here, from CHINA! And, not a one of them worked.
So, to answer your question...."NO!". At least NOT the six that I bought.

Thanks anyway. I appreciate the input.

I thought I'd thrown those miserable little green POS's away, but I just found them, and tried several of them, and sure nuff, none of them work, in DOS or Windows. THEY JUST DON'T WORK!

So, my search goes on.

Well, I've wasted enough time for one day, trying everything to get a USB Mouse to work in DOS, and it's just not happening. Not on this PC, anyway.
Thank y'all for all the suggestions. Much appreciated.
Happy Memorial Day, Y'all

@TechnoMage2021

I just had another quick look at your OP and now see that you mentioned having edited the Autoexec.bat file, but just checking if you also added an entry to the config.sys file?

This is the example entry I have in some old notes: "DEVICE=C:\Windows\MOUSE.SYS" but would obviously need adjusting to suit your setup.

Well, sir, I actually did add "Mouse.sys" to the Config.sys file on my DOS boot disk, but y'know.... It made no difference at all.:tears:
That was disheartening, after I spent over an hour, searching my house for an old DOS floppy with Mouse.sys on it.
And, thank Goodness I still have one PC with a floppy disk drive in it, so I was able to copy that file to a Flash Drive, for transport to this PC, to put it on my DOS boot Flash Drive.

I did download the zip file that Mister Ed posted about. But so far I have not figured out how to use it. :lmao:
There were no instructions.

My quest goes on,
TM
