Unable to get my PC to boot from a USB drive

I can still see no evidence that Facebook knows my SSID (or rather, could do if I used it). I'm not sure that apps can identify the SSID that is connected - the phone/PC OS surely can, but does it release that info? Even network stumbler apps, which can see SSIDs that are being broadcast, may not know which one they are themselves connected to.

But no matter - it is the databases of SSIDs that concern me - can they identify me or my address, by, say, connecting an IP address to a map location? So I had a look at WIGLE, from which I learned that the data comes primarily from vehicle drivers detecting SSIDs as they pass by, and the WIGLE app combines those SSIDs with GPS location data. So WIGL's data is concentrated along roads. See here for some more chat on the subject. My WIGLE account won't let me (yet) identify any SSID 'spots', but I can clearly see from its map that our house is not included - probably because the signal is too weak to reach the road outside. It is all very interesting, and I intend to look into it more when my WIGLE account 'matures'.

Sadly i dont have the time to go thru it all now as i have a ton of workload i have to focus on..
I just remember last year when i talked about the Five Big-tech company's and Privacy problem we have. and now when they talk about client side scanning for bad content and also now with the age-verification thing.
I listed a lot of data they do collect.. and Wifi names was one of them that is used as an identifier, to go around if you using a VPN.
But when i get more free time, i can dig in to it again. :-)

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

The data harvesters are much faster at finding new loopholes than us poor mortals are at plugging the existing ones. Its not that hard... I dont have Facebook or Meta products.. I dont have a google account or google services. I dont use any of Amazons services. I dont use Apple products.. and i dont have a Microsoft account or win10/11 home/pro.
And if i had 10/11 home/pro with a local account i would kill the telemetry.
So there is not much daily fighting going on if you dont use an account at Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple and Meta. ;-)

Gmail is where you fell down, they're sucking up all your data. ;-) FWIW, I don't use any social media unless you count forums like this. However, I do use Amazon. My main email is my own domain.

Yeah Google is even worse then facebook.. Also many fall on having standard Google Android phones.. many have not even heard the term degoogle phones.
