I want it to open calendar.

You don't specify which Outlook you are using, but if you're using 365, you can make a shortcut to Outlook and append /select outlook:calendar to the path for Outlook. For example:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE" /select outlook:calendar

After Outlook opens in mail I have to go one step further and click the calendar icon on the left.

The New Outlook doesn't have a separate Calendar App...

which is also why outlookcal: doesn't work.

The workaround here is a bit convoluted but it works. (posts #9 and 10)

This is what I have tried.

1)Remove new outlook app
2)Install old mail and calendar app from the store.

By dragging the calendar to a startup folder on my desktop the calendar does start on bootup.

However soon after this the new outlook is installed automatically with a few more bootup the new outlook mail comes up. There appears to be some clash when both are in the computer and at times I may get multiple copies of calendar on the desktop.

In the end I deleted the mail and calendar app. Removed the shortcut in my startup folder.

I pinned the new outlook to the task bar and used the jump list to open the calendar ( post# 5)

I start my compute activity by clicking the thunderbird icon in the task bar first.

The simple way is one that people overlook:

Go to the Outlook Calendar tab in Microsoft Edge:

Outlook

outlook.live.com outlook.live.com

Click the three dots in your browser pane and scroll down to where it says more tools.

Now click pin to taskbar.

It will now open in Calendar instead of Mail.
