AI, a blessing or a curse?

as far as i am aware the only AI (Actual Intelligence) on my computer sometimes sits in front of the keyboard
and that is the only kind of AI i want on my system.

It's useful for some things text-wise and can do coding - but not always reliably. I don't like it for image creation - that's all over the place and yes it should always be labelled that it's AI but the chances are people will pass things off as photos which annoys me. In a way it's undermining good photos as there are so many AI images everywhere. Most of the time it's obvious it's an AI image but - it's getting too much. Maybe the bubble will burst.

Exactly! Right now, the AI models seem to all be hopelessly biased to one viewpoint or another. Anyone depending on AI for an objective answer is on a fool's errand currently! Depending on anything I get from the current AI models is a non-starter for me!

And that's one reason why I don't trust it.

Also take into account that there's no accountability attached to it.

Works for me if used with things like EXCEL. I've done stuff in MINUTES that would have taken me a LOT LONGER - and I'm quite a power user of EXCEL.

One needs to realize that A.I isn't a total replacement for "Human Brain" or even Human Cognitative awareness -- but is purely a TOOL -- would you for example use a Steam hammer to crack a walnut !!.

Human Brains have huge limitations -- just look at that 100% MINDLESS DRIVEL given world wide ratings on the BBC's Sat night really puerile Quiz show "The Wheel" and available internationally (mind you world wide standard Sat Night TV is pretty hideous anyway if you have an I.Q over about 6 in any case). !!

I have ZERO problems unlike a lot here with A.I - my problem is with the majority who neither understand it, nor even attempt to try it out -- a bit like that old story of King Canute of Winchester - in pre 1066 England refuting "The Devine right of Kings") when he sat on a throne on a beach and commanded the incoming tide to stop -- however had he had "The Tide Tables" for that area - the whole outcome would have been very different. !!!! Maybe no USA / WWI, WWII, Ms Windows, etc etc -- who knows -- great theme for perhaps an "Alternative History SF" TV series or book.

I have questioned CoPilot about what it is. It gets its input from what is online, or what was initially programmed into it. It is not us! I don't think it will ever be. Organic life has biological imperatives, wants, and needs. It can't taste food, but maybe can tell you what is in it. I once was at a seminar by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He said people do great things because of 3 things. Praise to Power, Defense, and Profit, basically. Pretty much what he said here:

None of those things apply to AI. On a smaller basis, it can't taste food or drink, in the real sense. It doesn't experience the need for sex or intimacy, it doesn't get an adrenaline rush from a fast car, or some other sport or activity. In short, it wants or needs nothing. It is a machine and code. Yes, it may help in manufacturing. It might also help in medicine, but the caveat there is that it can't really care whether the patient lives, or dies, so humans will still have to test drugs it comes up with in the old-fashioned way to make sure that the drug doesn't do harm or have bad enough side-effects to make the drug worse than the malady. It can't enjoy art, or get feelings from reading a paragraph in a book. It doesn't need profit, and it has no gods. It's only need is electricity to run. So, any evil that comes from AI was human in nature from what it gleaned from what information it took in. In the end, it can be a useful tool for good or bad. Nothing more, nothing less, IMO.

AI is BOTH a blessing and a curse.
Example from 2001 a space odyssey: HAL can be useful, HAL can also end you.

With great power requires great responsibility or bad things will happen.

Regarding AI, it must be CONTAINED and RESTRICTED to be used only when chosen by end-users.

Personally, I recommend turning it off on a personal PC. Use O&O ShutUp10++, and monitor what is or isn't running in your processes.
Restrict and contain things as needed.

People need to be aware that THEY ARE THE PRODUCT being sold. Data is the value bought, shared, and traded.

That could also be used in context regarding humans. Very, very few artists are remotely original.
In art schools, most of their carriculum is based on established artists… Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Picasso, Kahlo, O’Keeffe, Kusama, Gentileschi. So what’s the difference?

What's the difference? Seriously? It's a BIG difference. Teaching art students about the greats and the techniques of the greats is one thing.
