Amd graphics card driver. Windows update keeps reverting back

So when i install my new amd graphics card drive windows 11 keeps then installing going back to the old update. How do i fix this?

If you're on Win 11 Pro, go into GPEdit and disable WU driver updates

If you're on Windows 11 Home or Pro...

Download the Registry patch at the bottom. Unzip it on your desktop, then double click it to merge.
Then reboot Windows.
That's it... no more driver updates.


Now... we need to do a clean install of your vid card driver...

DDU Instructions - AMD
1. Get this program, here: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) | Wagnardsoft ...get the latest version, and save it to your desktop.
2. Get your vid card driver here, use the Manual Search: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ...save this to your desktop.
Unhook the internet completely.
3. Reboot into Safe Mode and run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) choose GPU/AMD and the "Highly Recommend Option", and just do what it tells you.
4. After it's done, reboot to normal mode, then just double click the AMD driver to install. If it want's to reboot, let it.
Rehook the internet.

With step i do auto detect in amd website says i have amd vega 6 graphics but i dont see that in the manual search and i do have a upgrade available according to the auto detect. so what should i do to get the driver download without doing auto detect installer?

What is the make/model of your vid card?
In the manual search... in the 2nd box over... scroll down a bit and you will see Vega.

I didn't know which AMD Radeon card you had... so I just picked a random one for the pic.

I see you have CCleaner... just open that. At the top somewhere it will tell you what CPU and what vid card you have.



Or you can right click the START button and choose "Run", and type dxdiag in there.
It will take about 15-20 seconds to open...

Then choose the Display tab...

Registry, then go up to post #3 which I'm gonna fix right now...



OK, post #3 is now custom made for your laptop. (Including a registry patch which will stop driver updates)

This is why it's a good idea to fill out your computer specs.
It makes it a lot easier for us to help you. :)

Ok so the registry done. now i already saved the driver download to my desktop. Now do ddu correct and follow all the instructions and should be good to go ?

Yeah.. when we install drivers AND MS tries to install drivers....they sometimes get corrupted.
This is why we use DDU... it cleans out the previous vid card driver... (which is probably corrupt), completely.

I apologize for this taking so long... I didn't know we were talking about a laptop.

There are also... discreet vid cards called... VEGA...

The custom reg file was the icing on the cake, Some people are too quick to point out peoples mistakes when helping someone so i felt it was necessary to praise where due.
The reg files and batch scripts people make for others, I wish i knew how xD

That update is still coming up in windows update. so annoying.
