AMD runs slower in Windows 11

I have just watched a Youtube on how Microsoft has not supported AMD CPU's in windows 11 the same as they have in windows 10.

It would seem AMD is running a lot slower whereas Intel is as it was in 10, personally I haven't noticed and I run a Ryzen 7 4700u so we may only be talking milliseconds.

I have an AMD processor and I haven't experience a slow down.

No noticeable difference here to Win10 on benchmarks and as there is a fix due, supposedly on the 19th and it's already been patched in the Dev build, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. A new OS will have, as with any software, bugs or imperfections, final stage of any beta test is release to the public to catch what was missed.

It is actually an issue with the L3 Cache and the difference is in milliseconds.

There is some rubbish being posted as it was not discovered on Win11 launch but some time previously as posted on here and announced jointly by Microsoft and AMD and was actually discovered back in June by various people before it was publicised.

AMD's announcement, note frequent use of May not Will and there will be a fix.

And the fix has just appeared for insider beta and preview, just run passmark and there is a definite performance boost which is higher than before the fix which was actually higher than in Win10, was good now better!

Unfortunately at this point in time the fix doesn't include the mobile CPU's, my Lenovo Legion 5 & Asus PN50-E1 included.

Huh? How do you come to that conclusion? The update yesterday covers all AMD processors.

Well I thought you may know more than me so I ran the AMD software updater and guess what, it didn't update my AMD chipsets so I downloaded the driver set and my drivers are the same as they were before I did it, so perhaps you shouldn't come to your conclusion

I'm using the beta channel and I know that MS has address the issue with AMD. Also I believe that AMD will update the chipset drivers soon to match the changes provided by MS.

Yes, the slow L3 cache issue has been addressed in latest Release Preview CU (10.0.22000.282). It will be released to the public very soon.

Only thing remaining is fixing the best single core selector issue and AMD is working on that too.

Correct.. it's all a work in progress.. and don't forget. Time takes time.

I think there is some confusion going on here?
The only update was a Microsoft one and included in the Beta / Preview cumulative update and nothing to do with drivers and as said was to fix the L3 latency issue, that should be according to the rumour mill, available next Tuesday to non Insiders. Whatever there is no rush, the sky isn't falling yet.......

MS has passed along an update to insiders and I think it's going to be available to everyone on Tuesday or soon after that. With luck AMD will provide an update to the chipset to also address the issues. I also think the Dev channel has gotten the update.. but don't quote me on that.

And yes.. sky is still there and this issue is being addressed
