Solved An annoyance about smart phones


Bottom line!! I still can't get onto X...I have tried to do the 2 step routine but doesn't work - the one where you enter user name & pw. for them to contact you and get you running again. I did and then it goes into a spiral asking over and over. The Autenticator bit is more than I can handle task wise. Dumb me but I keep my life simple - so simple me. Bah!!

Been there, done that. You're not alone.

Or how about the entry code that never comes. You're waiting 5...10 minutes...while you're twiddling your thumbs. That used to happen to me a lot.

Yeah, I'd forget about it for now. Maybe get a good night's sleep and try again, tomorrow.

Can you not buy a really, really cheap webcam and point it at the code or whatever, on the screen?

I've not had the need to try it, so I don't know.

@Patsy1011 Did you enable two-factor (or multi-factor) authentication on your account? If so, it should have given you a set of backup codes to log on, usually ten or fifteen.

I've not really had to use my smartphone for anything since installing a decent password manager (Enpass) as it takes care of codes and logins. Not sure of whats available that's free or cheap. I paid about 80 USD for a lifetime version.
