After seeing the complaints, disorientation and sheer panic shown by people here in Australia if one of our major telcos has even a one hour outage I'm pretty sure that would be the end of civilization as we know it. :LOL:

If you have been locked out of your account on X, then the fastest way to get past the QR code without a smartphone AFAIK is to install and use a free QR code scanner browser extension for your desktop browser that lets you automatically capture QR codes directly from web pages which it then translates to the url that the QR code points to. When the USA says it's got all these satellites that can read a Car registration plate from outer space I'm sure emergencies etc could be easily spotted and handled. In any case emergency services etc have had almost since time immemorial those "Walkie Talkie" things to call in assistance when needed.

As for health systems - let's not get into those - presumably as electors of any reasonably democratic country "you Pays Your Money and takes Your Choice". So one gets what they voted for (and if they don't vote then have they a right to complain).

I wonder though about politicians etc switching to Reddit -- I've found that site on technology at least to be the least informative and most useless place for getting sensible answers. Places like these Forums are infinitely better as are some good 'Nix forums such as that for arch Linux - also good for Windows queries too !!!!l

I was talking to you about what you wrote in your reply (which I quoted in mine). Most people here in general don't know how to run a search on google. Typing in a few keywords is just too much hard work. Making 7 pages of perfectly good forum space go to waste takes much less effort than it.

For the most part, it's still on topic, anyway. And whenever it does go off the rails then I "Unwatch" the topic and move on. It's not difficult to do.
