Solved An odd build number problem - anyone else see this?

Win11 Pro 25H2 (RTM+)
I created an ISO image today of 25H2 26200.6718. Just in case this makes any difference, I created the image myself, I didn't allow UUP to create it, although I did obtain the updates via UUP.

I performed a clean install of this on a VM and a physical machine and they show the expected build number:

However, I just now took the cumulative update file (KB5065789) and installed it on a physical system and for some reason the build shows as 26220.6718 rather than 26200.6718. I thought that 26200 series are DEV builds. Any idea how this could have happened and has anyone else seen this behavior?

26200 series is now RP build (25H2) and 26220 I believe is the new DEV build series.

Not anymore, I have 26200.6718 on both Release Preview computers. It's the RP build now.

That is a restatement of what I just said. So the question is why would the build change from 26200.xxxx to 26220.xxxx just by applying the update?

26120.6682 is Beta
26200.6718 is Release Preview

As previously stated , you must have been on the DEV branch.
Nobody else is reporting the issue.

I have NEVER ever had a physical machine on a Dev build so that is incorrect. I guess I will try to restore my backup made a few hours before this to prove that.

I installed from the Windows Update download and got 26200.6718 - I'm on the RP channel.

Okay, I'm going to close out this thread as resolved. In the registry, I nuked this entire key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost

Then I performed an in place upgrade of the same exact build except that I used the 26200 not the 26220 version of that build. It now properly shows the build as 26200.6718.

BTW, in the meantime I had verified that my backup from this morning was 26200.6713.

I know that I closed out this thread as resolved but I just wanted to add one more piece of proof that the issue was not that I was ever on the DEV build. The proof is very simple: There simply is no build 26220.6718 in the DEV build series yet. Even today, several days later, the latest build in that series is 6684. So clearly anyone who thought that the issue was that I must have been on a DEV build is wrong. A DEV build could not have possibly accounted for this issue since no such build ever existed.
