Hi,

i have this notification:
2026-03 Update (KB5085516) (26200.8039) The Update could not be installed. You could try it again (0x800f0983)

Is this of any importance?

It is an out of band security update. Out if band updates are unusual as they are not scheduled in normal update cycle. .This implies it is an important update.

Hard to be sure if it is critical , but bypassing security updates is nor recommended

You can download it from the MS Catalogue and manually install it

I haven't bothered with it. It'll all be included in next month's routine cumulative update.

It contains a fix for an MSAccount login problem- see KB5085516 Windows 11 Out-of-band Update build 26100.8039 (24H2) and 26200.8039 (25H2) - March 21

If you get any further indications of WU problems, such as not getting twice-daily updates to Windows security [MS Defender definitions updates], I suggest you reset WU.
