The native cleaning apps do an adequate job. Try Disk Cleanup and your browsers’ built-in cache cleaners. A search of this forum will reveal a lot of discussion of the pro’s and con’s of cleaning software.

As @Wisewiz indicated, the native cleaning apps are sufficient. Some third-party cleaning apps can do too aggressive of a job cleaning thus causing issues on your system.

RAPR is good for cleaning out old drivers (some manufacturers like to keep several older versions on your system each upgrade), Treesize Free run as admin is excellent for finding hard to see/ hidden folders and files, lots of view config options, gives a good overview of where your space has gone.
Sysinternals Autoruns can help to manage/ remove/ disable scheduled tasks, drivers etc, can help to remove items the system complains are in use by allowing you to disable loading with a check box/ can re enable simply if needed as well.
Other than those (that I personally use) Windows default tools are good enough for most people.
All OS cleaning and customisation carries some risk if using 3rd party tools, especially if you are not fully aware of what you are doing, so always make backup images first.

Big question is what you want to clean, just disks or whole system.
Best way is prevention, some of worst offenders are program uninstall routines which more often than not leave a lot of garbage behind, files and registry entries. Use dedicated uninstaller like Revo uninstaller or IObit. They will also clean up everything connected to specific programs and APPs.
In addition to Revo and of course Diskclenup in admin mode I also use Uncleaner Download UnCleaner - MajorGeeks
Which often deletes some 100MB - 1GB+ of files.
Other than that not much else is needed, W10 and 11 do pretty good job of maintaining themselves and browsers have options to delete cookies, history and cache.

Doesn't need any options, it finds just what others missed like my example above. Use affter all other cleanups.
I also do this after updates.

If you click on the ' Last File Report ' tab it will give a list of all the temp files left. Double clicking on one of those files takes you directly to the file. If you try to delete it there it will show that your browser is more than likely using it and it can't be deleted.
