I have issues with my Phone Link app recently. It will not send or receive messages even though it says connected. I have resorted to downloading Google Messages as a web app to remedy this. it's not as integrated as Phone Link, and I would love to know how to get it working again on my PCs. It's not working on either my desktop or laptop.

Hi, it's a bit difficult to try to help you as you provide very little details.
Either way, those are the two screens you need to look at.
1: In Windows settings:

2- In Phone link, please note that Bluetooth will not be connected if you chose not to receive phone calls.

If you can come up with things you might think of , report back.
Otherwise a reinstallation on both your mobile & PC might be needed.
Permissions might also be an issue on your phone.

I think I found the issue. Google sent an update to pixels and google messages with RCS blocking systems like phone link. That's what I got out of co-pilot anyways. This sound correct?

That wouldn't surprise me from Google but I can't confirm that.

How so???

Google Messages Web works fine for me during long conversations that involve attachments, etc.

For short conversations I'll just voice dictate to my phone.

Another alternative would be a multi-device Bluetooth keyboard...

Not sure what you are asking, maybe you can enlighten everyone with more detail.

PhoneLink does work, I have transferred files Phone <> Laptop no problem, Mirrored Phone screen to Laptop, that includes Googe messages, etc.
PhoneLink/Cross Device Experience Host updated as of 1 July 2026.

This is what the Phone says:
Google messages > Account icon > Device pairing > Use Messages without an account > ...

For me, I'll get the random issue where the phone isn't synced when I come in from outside and the phone switches from cell signal to WiFi.
Hitting the 'Connected' button resolves that.

I tried it again yesterday. I sent my wife a message, she responded and I got the notification she responded, but there was no message in Phone Link. I tried unpairing and repairing the devices too.

As for Google messages, It's not the same. I like the way Phone Link looks, and access the photos from my phone natively but if I can't rely on it to be able to message I can't use it.

Why are certain notifications hidden from my Phone Link feed?​


Android 15 introduces new features designed with your safety and protection in mind. One of these changes, called Sensitive Notifications, uses an algorithm to identify and hide certain notifications. As a result, these hidden notifications cannot be displayed in Phone Link.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Experimental 263xx and 29xxx builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. As its new home has an existing digital licence for Pro I've been able to upgrade the migrated OS from Home to Pro.

    My SYSTEM EIGHT is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e (5th gen) type 20LN, Celeron N4120, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, a supported device for Windows 11. Currently running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Experimental 263xx and 29xxx builds as native boot vhdx.
Whelp.. After praising this as working almost all the time without issues.... Now it is utterly broken. It won't sync. I tried a reset of the app, and now it's asking for me to sign in with a different account. It was working fine yesterday and I have changed nothing.

I have a Samsung S21 5G phone. A few months ago I received a message that said that Samsung Messages was being discontinued in July 2026. I then switched to Google Messages. I have not had a problem since with that. I still see the same messages in Phone Link. I don't see all the notifications. That is OK since the important notifications are shown in Phone Link.

I've spent the last two hours going through every possible step I could find on the interwebs and nothing is working. When I try to set it up in Windows, it is wanting me to switch email addresses from the original. Trying to set up on the Phone just results in a error in the final step with no cause. Just says a version of oops, something went wrong.

All my computers have local accounts. However, when I set up Phone Link in Windows 11 and Link to Windows in Android all I had to do was use the same Microsoft account. No problem at all. I may have had to scan a QR code with my phone but that was easy enough.

It's supposed to be easy enough. It has been working fine for years. It was just this morning that it stopped syncing saying there was an account issue.
I've changed nothing in regards to accounts. Both are signed in to the same account and on the same wifi network. During the setup it wants to change the account when you click continue on the setup screen. I've logged out of everything, cleared the app cache and data on both. Clearly it is some sort of authentication issue.

Well holy carp. This should not have worked but it did. I had both apps open for setup on the Phone and on the PC and it linked up. I have no idea why, and don't care. It's working.

Note all my computers have local accounts. I only use my Microsoft account for linking Phone Link and Link for Windows. Otherwise I don't need to use it.
