Anyone used their second monitor as a tv?


The OP wants to connect a set top box to a monitor. He didn't say exactly what type it is.

Today all the "set top boxes" I have worked with have tuners built in. You use the their remote to change channels. These just connect to the TV's HDMI port. The TV's internal tuner is never used. A monitor could be used the same way.

A Fire Stick into my one of my HDMI ports. I have a Hauppauge TV card, but in Canada, it won't recieve anything, so I am ready to throw it away.

Total waste of money as far as I am concerned.

And to be honest, I would rather watch TV on the TV, where I can sit in a comfy chair. My office chair is good for office things, but not relaxing.

I hope the OP can figure this out.
