I'm wondering which is the best, or at least preferred, partition manager.

I stick with minitool v9
Minitool started dropping features on the free version one being mbr2gpt not that I've used it but I hate to see features dropped
I'm on MTPW 12.5, and the conversion is very much there. The context menu on the left changes, depending on what the program finds on your disks when it starts up. Thus, since all of my drives are GPT, the context menu offers Convert GPT to MBR. If my disks had MBR partitions, MTPW would show "Convert MBR disk to GPT disk."

Hi,
Have you tried it
Just because a option exist does not mean it works.

Yep. I converted the MBRs on this machine to GPT to move up to W11 on a non-compliant system.
Just because a option exist does not mean it works.
Absolutely. But I think MTPW is a really dependable tool. I've used several versions for a number of functions, and never had any problem.

OTOH, I used EaseUS (paid) once, and lost the contents of a whole disk. Fortunately, I had a disk image. I tried to get a refund, and they finally agreed to it.

I've only ever used MiniTool so can't comment on any others. But it's always worked well for me. Just used it today to sucesfully rearrange/expand partitions on a W11 clean install. Had decided it was a mistake to put a Data partition at the end of the disk, so deleted it and shuffled the rest around to make more room for the C: partition.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

I tend to use minitool free version. I thought about buying the premium version but with Macrium Reflect V8's additional partition handling, I do not really need the extra abilities now.

Use MTPW free -- but I thought mbr2gpt was part of Windows, as I used that to convert several "drives" when I upgraded my desktop to a new UEFI motherboard.

I have been using AOEMI free version for years. The bootable USB stick will not make any changes to GPT disks.

I had choice of purchasing the paid version of AOEMI or EaseUS and chose EaseUS. It is excellent for cloning as it will shrink the target partition if necessary.

I continue to use AOEMI inside the operating system - win10 and now win 11.

Macrium Reflect does this. How much did you pay?

Free Macrium reflect will not shrink the target disk. I do not remember how much I paid, but it was the best option from a cost point of view.

I've been using MiniTool for years. The others work too but MiniTool is great.

No, there are things disk management won't do that MiniTool and others will. Disk Management is pretty basic.

MiniTool for me too.
I am also using the MiniTool Data Recovery since 2013 and it is a life saver. I've used it 5x in the span of 8 years (case of dying and corrupted HDDs) and I was able to completely recover my data like nothing happened. I got lifetime licenses for both for FREE years back and they still work with Windows 11.
