Is the MiniTool Partition Wizard safe?


Yeah, you all are right. I think I'd rather install anything like this on a USB stick. Maybe include it on a Rufus thing.

Looks like the portable @Ghot tested has false positives, too. I'd rather get false positives and get a confirmation from here at this forum as to whether it's true or not, then nothing at all and install blindly.

AnyBurn has a 'create bootable usb option'. You just select an ISO file and the USB then let it do its stuff. It works for Windows or linux ISOs (MiniTool's bootable partition manager uses syslinux).

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

So you're talking about selecting the pwfree9 file that I also downloaded from your previous post?

And if so, should I move it to the USB and "burn" it from there? Or leave it in my downloads folder (or desktop) and "burn" it from there?

Burn it to the usb from wherever you have currently saved the pwfree9.iso file.

All my Lenovo's say 'To interrupt normal startup, press Enter' on the initial Lenovo logo screen. Then it's F12 to get a one-time boot menu (F1 to enter bios). For my Dell's it's just F12 at the first Dell logo (F2 for bios).

For both the F12 boot choice option may first need enabling in the bios.

SInce it's a ISO, wouldn't it also work under a USB Flash Drive with VenToy?

On the Dells, once I get into the BIOS, what settings do I need to change?

I've never set them up so they would boot off a USB before.

In the bios for 'General > USB Configuration' make sure that 'Enable USB Boot Support' is ticked. If so, then if you start up with a bootable USB connected it should be listed in the F12 boot options. For older boot USB's like this you may also need to temporarily turn off Secure Boot

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

Yeah, but which USB port is bootable? I have three of them.

All of them should be bootable, just try a boot usb in any one of them and turn on the PC. You'll soon know, it should appear in the F12 boot list.

Sometimes I currently boot with an external HD plugged into it as a spare drive for storage. I suppose after doing this, I won't be able to leave it plugged in all the time anymore. That's the trade-off, isn't it?

no it wont boot unless the media plugged in is bootable. if your external hdd is just data, it wont effect that at all
